What is the easiest way to receive rental money from our foreign friends? Would love any suggestions.

Maybe see if their bank can make a direct wire transfer to your checking account once you give them your account and routing numbers.

Or use PayPal if you both have an account. But with PayPal you will be charged a couple of transaction percentage points as a fee.

Default money order

I asked them to send a postal money order in US Dollars, seemed to work fine, at least for Canadians. I returned their deposit by check (personal, also in US $)

Our daughter lives in Scotland and occasionally purchases U.S. travelers checks and sends them to us. We do the same and purchase British travelers checks to send to our grandchildren overseas. In this way, the purchaser pays the exchange rate.
