On another thread someone was looking for a good Neurologist and it reminded me of an incident that occurred when I was in grammar school.

For our homework one day we were given a list of terms and their definitions from our teacher and instructed to learn each definition as we might be tested on them.

The next day in class the teacher started asking for students to give the definitions one by one. When the term Neurologist came up I enthusiastically shot my arm up simply because it was one of those rare occasions where I actually bothered to take the homework assignment seriously.

In my excitement I blurted out... "Neurologist - A neurologist is a nerves doctor!" Much to my surprise and bewilderment not only did she crack up laughing but the entire class joined in too. The teacher actually made me go to her friend teaching the 1st grade IIRC, to repeat it exactly for her. Of course she cracked up too!

It wasn't until after all the laughter, snickering, etc. (at my expense) subsided did I realize what was so funny. The teacher and others thought I said... "Neurologist - A neurologist is a nervous doctor!"
