A three chihuahua night would probably be the same as a one golden lab night.

I can't claim that but I do recall hearing/reading/dreaming somewhere that that's where the 60s-70s group got their name....after shephards or maybe Australian outback folks who would sleep in a hole in the ground. If cold outside, bring in a dog. Colder, two dogs. Freezing, a "three dog night"!
