The firemen were washing one of their trucks out in front of the station, when one of them spotted a little girl nearby with a small red wagon. It had a little wooden ladder hanging on the side of it. She had coiled up a garden hose in the wagon, and she had a fireman’s helmet on her head. The wagon was being pulled by a dog and a cat.

One fireman walked over for a closer look and said, “That’s a mighty fine fire engine you’ve got there.”

“Thanks,” said the little girl.

Looking closer, the firefighter noticed the wagon was tied to the dog’s collar and to the cat’s testicles. The fireman said, Well, miss, I don’t want to tell you how to run your rig, but if you tied the rope around the cat’s collar, I think you might go faster.”

The young lady paused for a second, then said, “You’re probably right sir, but then I wouldn’t have a siren.”
