Default Grammar Girl: What do you call Two Blackberry Phones

Here's the first quick and dirty tip from Grammar Girl:

What Do You Call Two BlackBerry Phones?
Sara from Harrisburg, PA, writes, "My friend asks an interesting question:
In plural form, is it BlackBerrys or BlackBerries."

Although we typically make words that end in "y" plural by replacing the
"y" with "ies," the same rule does not hold true for family names. For example,
it is generally agreed that the plural of "Kennedy" is "Kennedys."

If your gadgets were more like fruit, then we would call two of them
"BlackBerries." But I believe a brand name is more like a family name, and
therefore, the proper plural is "BlackBerrys." A search of the BlackBerry website
also shows that the company agrees and uses the plural "BlackBerrys."

Judy,

Thanks for the reminder about Grammar Girl. "Quick and Dirty Tips" is a good site, and I forget about it being around.

(Oh, and, btw, I think I might have been busted yesterday so just in case anybody is out there watching and planning to go all judgmental on me, I did not end that sentence with a preposition. That's an adverb up there. But I do plan to continue writing sentence fragments all over the place. I love sentence fragments. I broke up with that mean old grammar check thing on Word because it kept complaining about my sentence fragments. And I am always more than willing to split an infinitive. I am a generous woman. But that little preposition story in the "Fun" forum this morning sure was a good one.)

Well, I digress. -- Anyway, Judy, thank you, and I also really like Money Girl from the same site.

I believe that as the plural of Postmaster General is Postmasters General, the plural of Blackberry would be Blacksberry.

And what was Boomer rambling on about? Sometimes she confuses me and my head hurts all night and I think about what some really evil people do to small furry animals and I want to hurt them but I know that's not the right thing to do and might get me and my neighbors on television ("He was such a nice quiet normal fella, never a problem.") so I try to forget about small furry animals and just go to sleep but I can't because I'm still confused about what Boomer said.

Anybody but me notice that on some cop shows, the female cop will sometimes say she is "wearing a gun" while he male counterpart would NEVER utter that phrase? Inquiring minds want to know.

Well, here I find myself, with my usual wakeup routine -- computer on, coffee, serial...WHAT?! NO! MUNC! NO! I am so sorry, Munc. What I meant to type was 'cereal.' Please Munc. It will be OK, Munc. I will try very hard not to act like an English major. I know it drives people mad. Why do you think I have tried so hard to hide my real identity? ohdearohdearohdearohdearohdear Breathe in, Munc. Breathe out, Munc. I will try, Munc. I will try so hard not to act like an English major. It will be OK, Munc. I promise. Get some sleep, Munc. "To sleep, perchance to dream," Munc. uh oh
