Default The Hitchhiker

I picked up a hitchhiker the other day. After he got in he said to me, “How do you know I’m not a serial killer?”
I replied, “The chances of two serial killers in the same car is astronomical.”

Good one!

Interesting though how times change. Back in the day people hitch hiked without giving it a second thought. We lived 20 miles from the high school we attended, and as I played football as well as being a sprinter on the track team that meant that practices for both sports were after school, and as we were a family of seven with only one car, that meant hitch-hiking home after practice was over. Never a problem. After I got a car of my own I returned the favor many times.

Different world, today.

When I pick up a hitchhiker I say, "Put your seatbelt on. I want to try something. I saw it in a cartoon but I'm pretty sure I can pull it off."

And many, many hitchhikers ended up raped and/or dead, quite a few at the hands of serial killers.

Jump in to the back of my truck and bang on the roof when you want to be dropped off.
