Default A Florida Blessing

Keep it cool in mid-July.
Bless the walls where termites dine,
While ants and roaches march in time.
Bless our yard where spiders pass
Fire ant castles in the grass.
Bless the garage, a home to please
Carpenter beetles, ticks and fleas.
Bless the love bugs, two by two,
The gnats and mosquitoes that feed on you.
Millions of creatures that fly or crawl,
In Florida, Lord, you've put them all!!
But this is home, and here we'll stay,
So thank you Lord, for insect spray.

Can someone stop by and "bless" the cute little "goofy white bird" that struts into my garage a 2 or 3 times a week and stares at me for a half-hour before strutting back out. (He don't even offer to help with my projects.) Just stands there and stares from about 4 feet away. I must look like a "cracker" to him.

Default That was cute but....

...I think "Mr. Bill" has too much spare time on his hands...(or is it just me)?

I couldnt help it when I started reading this poem...it goes perfectly to the tune "Deck the Halls"...you know..."with boughs of holly"....

geeeeze. Now this "Poem" is going to be running through my head for the next two days!

My creativity level is about nil - I can't claim authorship, ie. it didn't take me a whole bunch of time to clip it out of an e-mail a friend had sent me and paste it into a new thread!!!

However, in the interest of 'full disclosure'...........I do have a lot of time on my hands some days.......

Default Bugs?

Bugs? Seriously there's no bugs in the villages. I lived in the Villages for two and a half years and I've never been bitten by a mosquito-and I'm outside a lot.

Come to South Carolina where I am now- you can see bugs!

Default Roaches

As a newbie in a rental we have seen 4 very large roaches (my hubby calls them Palmetto bugs) in the house even shortly after the pest control person had sprayed. Are these gigantic bugs immune to pest control? Does anyone have any idea how to control them? Thanks

Default Yes...just STEP on them...

...then HOLD YOUR NOSE and run outside until the house airs out.

I've been in Florida all my life...and we called'em "Stink Bugs"...all my life.

Dood (Welcome to Florida) Dave
