Default Overused Idiom

I wish people would stop using the overused idiom, "at the end of the day". Have you noticed that more and more intelligent and educated people are using this phrase at random times with usually no reason or meaning to it? I have observed some people saying it as many as 4 or 5 times during a few minutes of conversation. Apparently, even they don't realize what they are saying. End of rant.

At the end of the day, you are correct.

But then 12:01 comes along and spoils everything.

At the end of the day, I feel that by the end of the day I have heard at the end if the day way too many times by the end of the day!

True. We hear it a lot.

My (anti) favorite is "the next level". Who get to design those levels? How do you know that you've reached it when you've gotten there? Is "the next level" really level?. Ugh!

The one I use with some frequency is "well, that is better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick". Easy to define and gets the point (no pun intended) across right well.
