Default Reverse Snowbirds

A few night ago I met a couple from Queens NYC. getting to know them I asked if they were full-timers or snowbirds. The husband replied that they were "Reverse Snowbirds". When I asked for clarification he replied that they wintered in NY and summered in The Villages. Okay I replied. I just thought this was different and wanted to know if there are others.

I have actually suggested a similar arrangement to my husband. I wouldn't go as far north as NY, but maybe NC or somewhere else with a semi-moderate climate. I love it here in TV during the summer, but it's just too congested for my taste in the winter. Hubby wasn't fond of the idea....

After my first winter here I thought - hmmm, maybe we should rent out the house during the prime months and use the money to go some where slower and calmer and enjoy all TV has to offer in the off season.

You know, that's not a bad idea, casita. I may just rethink how and when we travel. Of course, I would have a similar problem convincing my husband...

We have friends who are reverse snowbirds...renting here in the summer. Someday they hope to be full time residents, but for now they love spending the summer here.

Default Now thats an idea

Given what places go for in the high season maybe that would be a way to go home to Hawaii for a couple months without breaking the bank. We plan on renting for a year or two mostly because my hubby can't give up on the idea of returning to his Hawaiian roots. But Hawaii is just toooo expensive. If we found a nice place to buy in the villages we maybe then could afford to go to Hawaii FEB and March by renting it out. New potential retirement date is July 8th.

I always went to TV in the summer because everyone says how hot it gets and I wondered if I could take it (turns out, no problem for me). This was the first winter I spent in TV due to Hurricane Sandy. Since I live on the beach on LI, I had no other decision but to run to my home away from home. If I can help it, I won't be back in the winter. Why? I'm a New Yorker and even I was scared of the drivers!! I pretty much know how NYers drive, and I drive as a defensive NYer. But, in TV in the winter, you get everybody from everywhere with all different driving styles. It scared me to death. I had a cart and rented a car. It scared me when I was in both. Way too much traffic, way too many different styles of driving and alot of LSV peeps learning the round-abouts. I live right off 466 and all I can say is Whoa, Nellie!!! I love, love, LOVE my home in TV but I'll see ya' in the summer!!!
