Back from my appointment. Although I was armed with a thick file of medical records on my hip, they took a new x-ray. The orthopedist reviews the images and looks at us and says "I'm sorry but I have bad news. You will need nothing less than a total hip replacement." (Right Total Hip Arthroplasty).

Bad News!?! -- That's the greatest news I've had in a month. How soon doc? Can you do it today? Tomorrow? Next week?

So I am scheduled for the middle of March. That gives me two more months to try to lose as much weight as possible. I am a happy camper!

Thank God that is the only thing that died. All your nothing friends were worried about you.

So glad a worn out modem is all that's wrong.

NOTHING but ecstatic to come back to all this good news -

:a040: to BK for getting the the good news she's been waiting to hear for sometime now.

And Tal, we are all so relieved. Can't thank you enough for taking the time to check in. When one becomes an official part of the NOTHING family we can really be a PIA when anyone goes missing, but not in a bad way. It's only because we care and worry about one another. So on that note - welcome to the family!

Nucky 01-15-2019 03:30 PM

I would have sent my congratulatory note earlier but I temporarily can't See. Talk to Yous NOTHING'S Later. Ray Donovan, sorry I meant Ray Charles.

Going to get weighed it. Ut oh broken Modems & Springs flying all over.

Congratulations BK, They have a special today at Ace Hardware but it's only on left hips. Fingers crossed Its Buy one get one free.

So happy to get back from my shopping and find out so much good stuff has happened in NOTHING. We were actually shopping to fill gift baskets for the Lions Club Chinese Auction but shopping is shopping and it was still fun.

Luca must have had NOTHING but a rough life. He escaped the cage and it's too sad but I have to sleep on this one and think it over, he attacked both of us when we came in the house and did some other damage. What a shame. Should have named him NOTHING but Dr, Jekyll. He great with us normally. I'm confused now so let's see what the morning brings. Maybe its the medicine that's making him flip out. Good night yous Nothings.

That's NOTHING but sad to hear. Hopefully he realizes the chance he's been given before it's too late.

Boy, how a day can turn. From joy over good news from some friends to the heart wrenching of others. Nucky, I'm so sorry. This last turn of events is, as K said, NOTHING but sad all the way around. You know we stand with you and believe you are doing all you can to make this work. Any pup would be lucky to have owners as caring and loving as you and Mrs Nucky. Praying that no matter what happens, you find peace in the situation and in your decision and know that we are here for you.

Today is Wednesday, January 16th. I am at a loss for words because my heart is so heavy for my friend.......see you all later tonight.

So sorry to hear about your problems with Luca. I think this is something you need to discuss with your vet or maybe put a post in All About Pets to see if you get any suggestions. There may be someone there that has experience with this. We are NOTHING but with you whatever you decide.

Nucky 01-16-2019 08:33 AM

We leave the Dog Channel on for him and the ceiling fan on low and a light on so he isn't scared. He bent and bit the cage and got out. I think he thinks we're not coming back. There is no way we are going to give up on him. He needs us, and we need him. For such a little guy to freak out like that is shocking. Good to know the little ankle biter has the house on lockdown while we're out. I'm going to take him to our Vet today and see what we can do for him. After the decision process to get him I'm not gonna give up NOTHING but easily. And the Dog He Stays! For now.

I NOTHING but took your suggestion but my post came out under the Service Dog Post. See Luca isn't the only one to make mistakes. Thanks, Fw and all of yous for listening and for a great idea.

I put my brain in FW mode and fixed it. I'm getting the hang on this computer thing. Signore Roberto, The Godfather. Thanks again FW.

I am so glad that you got such good suggestions on your post. The pet forum people are always willing to help with sharing their experiences. Luca is NOTHING but a very lucky dog to find people so willing to help him through this.

I haven't had a chance to look yet but your idea was primo. Thank you for renting your brain to me while mine was completely shot. I admit I was not thinking straight. We are NOTHING but a mess because the last three nights have been choppy with sleeping and house maintenance and the sorrow of dealing with a sick animal. Our collective hearts are broken for this little dude with the perfect name, Luca, mostly Beagle, in his mind a gigantic fearless GIANT with a former subject on NOTHING. He's got Balls. :1rotfl: He's a hurting potato and we'll know more tomorrow.:pray:

I'm NOTHING but like-minded Abby, sometimes you get signs that are better to realize and accept than to blow thru the sign and just accept the new digs on any basis. The main thing is to get here and start getting settled, it does take time but new friendship blossom constantly and the place your leaving and the job that will miss you will just be a smile on your face that nobody needs to know about.

I'm truly afraid that I wouldn't have survived much longer in N.J. seriously the cold along with my ailments was not a good match. It is a true miracle that we landed where we are and I'm one grateful person for all the blessing we have gotten.

As for my pal Tal I'm happy to have you back on board. Glad it was just a technical glitch.

I'll keep you all posted about Luca as I find out more. They kept him for observation. He was Jacked Up when I got there yesterday worse than Grandmas toenails. I miss our little guy already but have the patience to await the good news that I hope will come. This is the time to use faith when you possess it. Mine is in gear now.

Glad to have you back Tal
Not much NOTHING from the Kommander lately
Counting down the days until the den mother gets here
This is the first day all week that we have NOTHING planned so I can get back to getting some of my household chores done
Sooo glad to be in Florida right now

Great synopsis of NOTHING, fw. Yesterday was a slow posting day on NOTHING but it sure wasn't slow for me at work. It was one of those days were we worked so hard but in the end accomplished very little.......so frustrating having to deal with insurance companies, unresponsive doctor's offices and the like. I know doctors deal with the same thing, leaving very little time for patients. It's a travesty really how screwed up healthcare has become. I always said when all these laws, etc, were passed how nice it would have been if they had actually involved professionals who are working it. Okay, enough ranting........

Then there was the news this week about my old pharmacy that I left a couple years back being broken into. Thankfully it was in the middle of the night and no one was injured. What a mess they left though. I knew leaving there was a good move. The vibes were just not right after my good friend sold it to someone else. Hoping and praying to get out of this career with NOTHING like that happening to me.

Anyway, today is Thursday, January 17th, and I have the next 4 days off. Got a lot to catch up on here at home......

BK001 01-17-2019 08:57 AM

Good morning Sweet Nothings,
Nucky you may have noticed that I did not weigh in here or in the other post about Advice for your Pup. We've only had two dogs. The first, Spike, a large German Shepherd mixed breed, was rescued (to my dismay) while we were both working when a friend of DH convinced him that we need a dog! Ha. He was a "chewer" - loved leather shoes, pocketbooks, and especially wood. My house was filled throughout with beautiful wood trim -- beautiful that is until Spike got done with it! The dog did not like me at all (the feeling was mutual) and he nipped and growled at me many times. Each night I came home and would immediately assess the new damage he had done. We tried everything including an expensive trainer (who after several sessions pulled me aside and said "It's your husband who needs the training". After 1.5 years my nerves were so rattled and, for the first and only time in our 30 plus year marriage I gave my husband an ultimatum that I meant from the core of my soul -- it's me or the dog. Choose.

Our little Yorkie came many years later -- I had since retired -- and it's too long a story to tell the circumstances but he became ours. The good news he loved us both equally - the bad, he suffered from horrific separation anxiety. Regardless of everything we tried, he never got over it. I was older with more patience and, being at home, it was easier to deal with him. But having him changed our lives irrevocably. For years we avoided going out as much as we may have wanted to because of his barking, scratching at the door and, of course, the "present" that he left on the floor for us every single time we left the house. After we moved here, Mike installed those metal kick plates on the laundry/garage door after he nearly destroyed the door from scratching. He would bite the ankles/legs of any visitor that tried to leave our home. I lived in fear that someday we may get sued. We both cried like babies when he passed and I still miss him -- but there is also a feeling of relief.

Did we love him? You betcha. Would I get another dog. Possilbly. But for now, with all my medical appointments, and the desire to socialize more, I need the ability to go out when we want to without always worrying about what trouble the dog will get into.

I was reluctant to respond to you because, perhaps I'm a coward, but I had misgivings about this little guy based upon our experience and, if asked, would have recommended that you return him and try to find a better emotionally adjusted dog.

223, 594 views as of 8:58 AM EST on NOTHING.

We will be in the 224,000 range very soon.:bigbow:

Good to have the computer up and running.

Hope that Luca gets better. Our blind cocker spaniel, Amber, in Palm Harbor, FL had separation anxiety something terrible. We would put her in the bathroom and she would try to scratch through the door. She also would fall into the pool when the kids or someone else left the safety gate open. We had to put her down because it got so bad. She was also going deaf. Really sad as she was not that old when she took that last trip to the vet. Lots of eye drops needed for her eyes which had had cataract surgeries.

She would poop and pee in the bathroom and then fall into it and create quite a mess. And also sometimes would tear out her nails.

She would walk into walls because her senses were going.

We did not get another pooch until 2007 but had started looking hard in 2006.

We lost Amber around 1998.

Amber was the puppy that my then live-in girlfriend Jenny dropped on my head when she flew out with me from Minneapolis in 1990. I was sleeping on the couch and she was in a bedroom. I had had a very strong crush on another law student at the U of MN which kind of interfered with my relationship with Jenny. This other lady was in Miami at that time but would soon move to the SF Bay area. Both of these women were in the Legal Assistance to Minnesota Prisoners Clinic with me. Jenny was my former student while the other gal was a fellow Student Director but she was with a different prison. I was attached to Minnesota Correctional Facility-Stillwater, the same as Jenny.

Love your honesty, BK. Taking on a pet is NOTHING but a huge responsibility and can certainly change your life in many ways. So many rewards to be had too. I admire people who choose not to have them because they know they don't have the time, or energy, or finances, or whatever to care for them properly as much as I do those who take them on with great love and devotion.

Our dog before Sport had a heart murmur which involved a lot of surgeries, medicine and trips to the vet but we got every day we could out of Sport and not for NOTHING. He had had a collapse hour before we took him on his last journey. His 3rd collapse was 12 hours before that at home.

We struggled with this for about 9 months but did have that time to enjoy his company.

Got Beau 5 days after Sport passed.

I am obsessed with numbers and not for NOTHING. Had a lot of fun with the shows Manifest and FBI with their episodes this week even if I could not get on Facebook to talk about it. Jeopardy often amuses me too with various details.

And I am not nervous about the police departments like the Wildwood (FL) PD and the Sumter Counties PDs (FL and GE), law firms nor various law schools (U of Florida, for instance) that I see showing up on my Facebook page. Nor the various journalists. Nor the Villages Daily Sun appearances once in a while.

I guess we have just been NOTHING but very very lucky. All of our dogs have been very good dogs and have given us no trouble at all. I am so sad to see that others have not had the same experience. I think dogs are a huge life altering commitment like kids and I don't fault anyone for not wanting either one.
