Looks like that sometimes does not workout and not for NOTHING.

I never saw that one Tal. That cost him or her their job. It happened about once a year. We had one NOTHING but pull off the road onto the shoulder for safety and got stuck. After two hours the truck started leaning even more. We threw 10 lbs of sugar in the load while the barrel was still spinning and the load didn't set up inside the truck. The truck was salvaged about 8 hours later.

One other truck had 9 yards of concrete set up inside the barrel when they sent a tiny tow truck to pull out a close to 70,000 lb truck. They have people you can hire who drill through the concrete in the truck and put a kind of a charge, similar to Dy-No-Mite. The actually yelled Fire In The Hole and hit the Plunger Like Gomez Addams and the truck jumped about 6" off the ground. :boom: It broke up the load into manageable pieces and the whole truck was jackhammered out. I Love Concrete. Bet you never heard that before. What a great way to make a living. Wouldn't trade it for the world.

And since we are on the topic of concrete (are we really?) ... I have always admired really good brick work -- with particular attention to the pointing. Many years ago I attempted a DIY project to repair my brick patio. BIG MISTAKE. First of all, what is that stuff in-between the bricks? You got your cement, you got your concrete, mortar, stucco, gypsum, grout, plaster, etc. etc. ad nauseum. Ask anyone to clearly define the difference in these products. HAH. Regardless, the instructions are usually the same with slight variations "Just add water or Just add water and sand, and mix". Simple,

Yet working with this stuff for a neophyte is the same as telling someone who has never cooked that in order to make great artisan bread, just mix water and flour, knead and bake.

So much for the digression into what was once nothing but total frustration.

And that's the beauty of NOTHING - the topic can go anywhere about anything. Regarding concrete or brick laying, etc, I understand it is an art or a talent or a gift - one of those things. Regardless, it's not easy, takes a lot of patience, and there's definitely a method to what I would call madness due to my lack of overall patience. My husband recently helped a friend lay a new sidewalk in front of his house. He was quite amazed at the process and thankful his friend was skilled at it.

Btw, about your link and the pictures - I'm quite sure at least half of the NOTHINGs on here are not even going to notice the bad brick work in that last photo. Is that you, BK? You did say it was many years ago - lol

The technicalities of Concreto Are really amazing. I worked at a Quarry before the Concrete business and I would never guess how technical making a stone actually is. I can tell you one ting, working with Brick is NOTHING but an art and I think you either have the skill or look at that last picture. It's rough. When working with concrete, heat, time and water are the enemy of concrete. I wonder what additive they use to keep the concrete alive in Florida considering the heat?

When people had conversations about the thickness of pavers last year on TOTV'S I would get upset that they were making a mistake cause I wanted to save them money and the heartache of doing a simple job twice but now, OH Well, Do yo own thing! I'm Jiggy Wit It! I need a NOTHING to!

My husband teamed up with my cousin's neighbor who is a retired professional and they did the redo from the mess up of the first person my cousin hired.
