Default beware of mulch crooks

We called around to get 4 yards of mulch delivered and spread. One company wouldn't give me a price until I told him what neighborhood. When he found out it was a premier village, he said it would be $300. We finally went with M an M Landscape who did a beautiful job for $135. Megan from M&M said it is common to jack up prices for premier neighborhoods. She also told us about how some landscapers will show up and start a job even though you picked someone else. They then go to the police and charge the people with theft of services. She said to never do business with someone who just shows up in a truck, and never pay anything up front. I guess that even though we live in paradise, there are some not so nice people out there who don't mind taking your money.

Since moving in we have been hounded by stop by lawn/yard service folks. When I was down here in April, talked to our neighbor, who is full time, and since we would not be here full time until July and need lawn/yard service I asked who they had doing theirs. STALLER (check spelling) was the name I was given. Retained their service and will again renew when the time comes.

Now, I looked out our window and this company was working on the neighbors yard. Saw a black pick up truck with yard tools go by, he was stopping at everyone's house soliciting work. Door bell rang, I looked out the door, saw the STALLER truck gone and assumed (that will get you everytime) that this gentleman (using the term loosely) was at my door. I am not a small person, and after years of Law Enforcement, my wife says that I can look really scarey, if need be) I jerked the door open and informed the man there that we had a lawn/yard care service and was EXTREMELY happy with their service and to get off my property NOW.

The young man looked at me, stammered, "But, I work for STALLER." Now I felt really stupid, and and after telling the young man how sorry I was, and what a great job they were doing, we have now be come friends and joke about this incident.

So if you are looking for great service for the money, I would think about looking up STALLER and have a talk with them. Good service is hard to find and when you do, shout their name out so that everyone can hear about a company that is really into CUSTOMER SERVICE.
