Default Brownspots, moles, grubs, Grrrrrrrrrr

Ok I killed the grubs and cured the brown spot desease, now I have moles and the poison peanuts seem to encourage them to dig more mole tunnels and volcanoes. I feel like wats his name in "Caddyshack". Any mole killers out their wanna share their secret?

Handie

I have no cure for moles, handie...but, funny you should mention this. We were playing Heron on Friday and saw several mole tunnels at the 9th hole teebox. First evidence I had seen of moles here in TV. Had a terrible problem with them (or may have been voles) back in MD. Never could get them under control.

And. yes, you would make a good Bill Murray character.

Default Moles

I have had them all over in the yard. I used mothballs it works but smells strong. You can get them a $1.00 a box at the Dollar Store.

You are correct that grubs are cause of moles. Kill the food source and they will leave eventually, so they say. I have to deal with them here up north and have to spray for the grubs a couple of times a growing season. Even that will not get rid of the moles totally as once the tunnel system is in place they have your place mapped. I have cut down a lot on the tunnels by placing rocks in the openings and forcing them down with a hand tamper. That has helped a lot.

Also I have noticed that if the soil is moist and in the shade you will have more moles. At one time I use to chase the neighbors cat out of the yard until I saw it one day chasing after a mole down my drive. The cat caught it and took it home. The cat can play in my yard anytime as long as he takes it's catch home.

I remember someone telling me to put a stick of Juicy Fruit gum down the mole holes. Now I haven't tried this cause I don't have moles, but it's worth a shot.

Grubs are also a favorite food of skunks!

Oh great! We had them up here in Cincinnati and it almost made Sweetie go nuts.

Moles, Voles, they look like little rats and make the lawn look awful.

Do you live near us Handie?
