Growing Tomatoes Upside-Down
Has anyone actually tried this - if so, how well did it work. I have seen the containers at Wal-Mart where you can grow herbs on the top piece and the tomato plants grow upside-down underneath. Wanted opinions before I purchase. Husband thinks I am crazy.......

I did it last summer in NY. It was amazing. I set the thing up April 5 and had ripe tomatoes by July 4. Lovely tomatoes and they just kept coming. It does need watering every day, tho.

I've seen 'em at Epcot (Disney) in their "Land" pavilion and it was impressive.
Seems it'd work great, and PS - I love tomatoes |

I raise them in Ohio upside down. Does produce a large early crop. Only disadvantage is they need to be watered everyday.

But seriously folks
The stand manufacturers recommend that you not use the ginormous varieties(like burpee big boys) beccause they will be too heavy. Other than that, it's really an easy way to grow them.

Last summer I saw many of these contraptions hanging on the overhangs of the porches of the houses in the neighborhood. They seemed full of tomatoes.
