Retractable Screens
I don't know if they sell for a double front door, but I got my retractable at Lowe's, who contracts with a manufacturer out of Orlando that does the install. It was $369 for the door and installation, and I am happy with it. So Lowe's would be worth checking out to see if the manufacturer has a double that would work.

One thing about the slider-type. Our neighbor has those and closes them when they leave. This means that when they get home, they have to get out and move the screen to get into the garage. That was the case yesterday and they got soaked in the rain. The only time our retractable screen is down is when one or both of us are here. Oops, sorry.....didn't read too well. I addressed the one for the garage. Don't know anything about the front door ones. Sorry.

$140 here
Even if you had to hire someone how long could it take 1-2 hours labor?

Definitely recommend Michele's Hide-Away Screens. They must be pretty good because we know several Villagers who've used them and were very satisfied. Their screen does not slam and they use Superscreen mesh. Google them.

Michelles Hideaway Screens
They are expensive but you get what you pay for and Michelle's screens are top quality. I researched quite a bit before we chose. They have a manufacture in Jacksonville and one in Seattle, Wa. The screens are basically made the same but the housing is a little different on the one in Seattle along with the side edging. What is important also is the installer. They need to make sure the tension is correct so you don't end up with a "baggy" looking screen, which happens with lower quality or an inexperience installer.
We had a two car garage and golf cart screens installed. Unit installed on wall to operate and we were given four remotes. two for our cars and two for our golf carts so you don't have to move the remote from one place to another. We were very satisfied. Good luck..

I so would love to have a retractable roll/down screen on the golf-cart garage door. It probably would have prevented the snake and the mouse from entering. The snake left willingly from the garage when threatened with a hoe but the mouse chewed off the weather stripping on the laundry room door. MW (husband) replaced the door bottom. The door must have weighed 100 lbs. However, it is a fire door, so weighing 100 lbs. or so is good news.
Michelle quoted almost $1700(!) to install a golf cart garage roll down screen, so for now we are taking our chances on the wildlife. |

I wouldn't call it expensive at all, highway robbery without a gun.
Ridiculous!
