Default Lawn Mowing

I'm looking for a lawn cutter to mow my lawn based upon when it needs to be cut. Seems like a lot of local lawn mowers operate on the calendar (every other week starting in Oct). Would like to contact a mower that will cut the grass based on it's growth.
Any recommendations?

Just to be clear, you are looking for someone to check your lawn every couple days to evaluate the growth or are you looking to have someone available to come to mow when you call?

It’s not a sustainable business model for landscapers.

You really need to find a handyman, who will mow lawns periodically.
I am sure you’ll find someone - just understand there’s a chance you’ll be looking for a replacement person every few months.

IMHO, I doubt you will find such a service, all of the lawn mowing services seem to be either weekly or bi-weekly, with the weekly ones going to bi-weekly over the winter months. If you have a smaller lawn, you might want to look into a robot lawn mower which you could turn loose as needed.

That's what they all do. Based on 100 years of history, they have a fairly good clue how fast grass grows.

If you want someone to come by and check every day with a "ruler", you might have trouble finding someone and you probably won't be happy with the price.

Highly doubt that would be profitable for the contractor. Who is going to be the arbiter of when to cut? It’s already difficult to get a reliable service without that stipulation

This is a good suggestion, they are pricey.

Yes, very pricy but long term in certain situations worth the price. I have the model listed below mowing my yard in West Palm Beach once a week during the summer and every other week during winter. My yard has Pensacola Bahiagrass and is basically flat with a few shade trees. The mower does an excellent job no issues so far after 18 months of use. Prior to this, the yard company was charging me $175 a month for full service 2 times a month, now they only change $75 to trim and remove weeds only.

what you are looking for does not exist here. If you want to measure the height of your grass, better to do it yourself

That’s unreasonable. You won’t find anyone to do it that way. Buy an electric mower and do it yourself.

You need to cut your own for that type of service. If any landscaper tried your business model they are now unemployed and using food stamps.

There is a perfect person to take note of your lawn on a daily basis, then mow when you think it’s best.

Pretty cheaply for this service.

Gas mower under $100
Electric mower $400 and up.

Do it yourself and you will be happiest.

Other options contact a company that requires one year in advance, they mow when it’s convenient for them, or sometimes not at all, so that might work.

Either way a company will charge you the same every month if you only want one mow per month price will be the same if they mow twice.

Sounds like you see an opportunity to lower your landscaping costs by eliminating a some of the unnecessary cuts.

I guess your landscaper can miss a couple of meals …
