My lawn service provider just upped our monthly charge to $60.00/month for mowing once a week beginning March 1. During the winter months they show up just once every 6 weeks. I think $60.00 is a bit high. Anyone have someone they like for less money?

They raised it BY $60/month, or it's NOW $60/month?

Sign me up too we were at $120 a month and didn’t show up for 6 weeks. We fired them, bought a electric for $600. Mow when we need to, lawn always looks great, and mower was officially paid for itself last month. Now lawn care is Free, except for our time

Started to do it myself. The cost is now longer commensurate with the task

We were paying $50 a month...they'd mow 'n blow once a month, though it was supposed to be every other week. I wasn't unhappy with the service, but many times it looked as though they didn't actually do anything.
Decided to buy a small battery powered unit from amazon (Worx WG779) and now do it myself as needed. |

~what kind of mower and how big is your lot? I'm seriously considering one but not sure the battery will last. I have an Indigo on a view lot....

However you have an interesting point, I will need to 'survey' (estimate) what we have and see if a battery powered unit would be suitable.

Just remember when buying a electric mower, the time they advertise is not the actual "mowing time",
It's the "run time". I bought a electric Kobalt 20" from a neighbor that moved back up north and it came with a 5 amp battery. I don't know the size of my lot, but the 5 amp was to small and died before I finished. I have Kobalt 2 amp batteries from other Kobalt tools and been using them to finish my lawn. I see the new Kobalt comes with 6 amps now, |

I've been cutting my corner lot since we moved here three years ago. It's really hot in the summer, I have to cut every 5 or 6 days in the summer. I have a gas mower and a gas edger, not a big deal to keep gas in the garage, I use the gas in my golf cart too. I'll keep cutting myself as long as I can.
