Default Need grass replaced with rock

[B]My husband cannot cut our courtyard villa grass anymore as he is getting along in age and the summers are too hot to work outside. We can't have a landscaper coming inside our courtyard as our little dogs use a doggie door and are outside often. So it's time to have our grass removed and rocks laid down. Any recommendations for the job?

We used "Have Rock Will Roll", Zack, at 352-274-5635.
We chose our rock from "Dirt Cheap" (great choices), and Zack delivered it and placed it for us.

You might want to do a Search on the subject.
I know there have been previous threads with other suggestions.

You may want to keep a small patch of grass for your dogs' use. Also, in the heat of summer the rocks will burn their pads so a small area of grass will provide some relief for them.

Default replacing grass with rocks

You might want to reconsider your plan from someone who has been there. It is a lot easier to get someone to cut your grass than deal with the weeds that grow in rock. The rock generates so much heat that they burn your plants and cause weeds to grow much more. I have put the cloth down and used Preen, but they continue to be a problem.

We have a tiny lot and had McGowan's do ours almost 3 years ago. We absolutely love it and the maintenance is very low. They installed microirrigation at each shrub and tree and they couldn't be healthier. A weed will pop up here and there and are easily controlled with judicious use of Roundup. For us, it's perfect. We've had folks stop to admire the look and ask who our landscaper is. I know it's not for everyone but we'd do it again. Whatever you decide to do, I hope you, hubby and the pups enjoy it.

I would recommend Sanchez Landscaping. I replaced all the grass with rock in my CYV since I'm a snowbird and didn't want to deal with cutting the grass. Sanchez Landscaping did a great job at about half the cost I got from 2 other quotes.
