Question Need a Lawn Care Recommendation Please

My wife and I are closing on our new home in the village of Charlotte in September. We will not be moving to The Villages until after the first of the year. I will need to have a service care for the yard until we arrive. I'm thinking it could be an "audition" for them to continue their service after we are moved in. We likely will need some additional landscaping at that time.

I have searched this section of the forum, and have seen some recommendations and some horror stories. In many cases, it is hard to determine if the service is just landscaping, or if it includes lawn care and care of the landscaping as well. A lot of posts may be outdated as well. One thing I can surmise, however, is to NOT sign a contract.

Can anyone recommend someone for me to call to discuss their services? Thanks in advance!

I live in Charlotte and use a company,Landsculptures 352 286 1618. I have used them for the last year and a half. They come every week like clockwork. No contract. The owner told me if I don't like his service just tell him to stop. He does several lawns on my block.

We were using KB for a couple of years. They seemed to be doing a good job, but our lawn just wasn't filling in and was developing some areas that looked kinda bad. We switched to Fertigator about 6 months ago and our lawn looks great now. Every time the irrigation runs, the lawn and shrubs get fed. They do the mowing and weeding, but I must confess, that they leave a little to be desired in the weeding area. I have had to call them several times, but they always respond and take care of the problem. Since you have a new lawn, I would definitely recommend them to get your lawn established. If you decide to give them a try, just tell them they are on trial until you move down and they might be a little more diligent in looking after your lawn.

If you know any of your neighbors, it would be good to hire their lawn care people, until you get there permanently. Might want to ask.

Do not use Stellar! I did sign a contract and was very disappointed. I had to call constantly to get the services.

Dean's!! We had been using someone else and our lawn had big brown spots in it. Dean's took over and it's the best on the street - well it was until our neighbors also started using Dean's. They leave a card every time they come saying what they've done and when they'll be back. Our lawn is BEAUTIFUL!!!

Although not in Charlotte, I agree 100% with Tommy.

Have used them since I moved in a year ago. At least six of my immediate neighbors have switched to them. Very reliable and the owner, Mike, is involved and very accessible. No payment in advance is required.

DO NOT USE Jamies Landscaping. They did not provide a landscape design drawing, they did not keep promises about trimming palm trunks of palms they installed, they didn't properly evaluate the existing irrigation system and move piping and spray heads to most most efficient and effective or even appropriate spots, they didn't properly plant shrubs, And they didn't place plant tarp around stacked stone walls.
I DO RECOMMEND Village Palms Nursery and Landscaping, Tri-County Landscape, and Precision Landscaping & Tree Service.

Based of feedback here, and additional research, I engaged LandSculptures when I was down for our closing in mid-September. Mike was on time, and seemed very professional. No contract. Can cancel with 30 days notice. I took the "full" service, since we won't be on site until after the new year. We will see the results then. We also have a home watch checking on the house, so if there are issues of any kind, landscaping or otherwise, we'll hear about it.
