Default Please don't tell me this is a weed

Hi friends, I need your help again telling me what the heck is growing in my yard. This grass began to overtake my other grass and I let it go thinking it was Saint Augustine and now I'm being told it's a weed. Help me identify this. Thank you again

No idea what it is, but if it's green and thick I'd let it replace the St Augustine. Probably save you a fortune in green-up and irrigation. Run it by ARC first.

We all spend to much time and effort worrying about grass.
My suggestion is take a sample to the county extension office on 466 for an opinion.

Looks like Bermuda grass to me. I say just let it grow and mow as needed. Bermuda, St. Augustine, Zoysia, and that 4th one that I can't remember the name of. It's all just weeds, because real grass doesn't grow in Central Florida without TONS of maintenance.

Your lawn is replacing expensive garbage with less expensive garbage. Just embrace it.

Doveweed. Baking soda will kill it.

I like your thinking. Thick and green. Exactly what we all want our lawns to be like.

I cannot recall the full name but it may be Asian ______ (that I cannot recall). Perhaps others can fill in the blank.
Apparently, low maintenance and being used in Lawns throught the village,
Can someone please add context,
thank you

It's not Asian Jasmine - that's a lot less grass-like, but does make excellent low-maintenance ground cover

Default Doveeeed it is!

Unfortunately doveweed is correct. Went to YouTube found some extension agents to talk about it explain exactly how it works in the wet ground and the little flowers I see from time to time that's exactly what it is.
thank you all I think

Lived in Florida all my life and this does not look like Bermuda and appears to be a weed. As others have suggested show it to an expert. Agreee about TONS of maintenance

Doveweed. It's bad this year.
Atrazine will kill it.
Will die off when it gets cold.
Use a pre-emergent like Prodiamine before the soil temps reach 50-55 deg. (around Feb.)

Dove weed won’t successfully be removed if you have a landscaper mowing service. Remember they mow 100s of yards a week. The seeds of the pest are bound to be in the mower deck because they have been picked up at a neighbor’s place.
