Default Small Veggie Garden

Any concerns about using the non-potable irrigation water to water a veggie garden?

health wise I don't think it is an issue. I would certainly wash my veggies carefully after picking. But from an economic point of view, irrigation water is more expensive than your drinkable water. The water from the outside house bibs is the water I would recommend.

I received an e-mail reply from the district gov group and their answer was "We do not advise watering vegetables with the irrigation water. It is only slightly treated with chlorine and is not considered safe for consumption."

I guess I have my answer.

I grow my herbs and such in containers and use the house water.

Better check with the Federal Department of Ag. Growning veggies without the necessary permits is a federal offense now. Begging the Ag Department for a special permit for a couple tomato plants where the tomatos don't taste like cardboard.

If you plan to sell them, then possibly, but growing your own veggies does NOT require a permit. Better check this one on Scopes.com or elsewhere.

You might want to grow a sense of humor.

Default my bad

Well, it sounded like some of the emails I get - and they are not being humorous, they believe this stuff!
