Hello I"m new here. I am so embarrassed but yet very thankful to all of you That I would have been in the same mess as other people putting Synthetic Turf in my front yard and then having been sued by The Villages to remove if I didn't come on this blog.
What is going on down there with all these local yocals. Are these workers and companies seasonal? Are they part of the groups that travel from city to ripping people off. I thought everyday was a beautiful day in The Villages. Along with the bugs, snakes, fire ants, hurricanes, people stealing golf clubs out of carts now I have to be aware of landscapers especially those landscapers sanctioned by The Villages themselves who conduct business on The Villages property. Does Clint have relatives working for The Villages? I met Clint as is says on his business card and he had me all convinced Florida had approved synthetic turf for my front yard and there was nothing The Villages could do about it. Thanks to Edviniss from another thread who had a link to the actual legislative definitions. By reading those where it is clear, i am spitting nails. Clint had a document he said was from the state with a letterhead from the VCDD with the arch committee address and phone number. All was listed was plants....Where did it say Synthetic Turf? he said, Oh that page didn't print but I can get you one. WOW! My quote was for $9200 and I was going to call him when I come down in January. I hope dementia is not setting in for me as I too was fooled. This is found money as far as I'm concerned. This blog should be required of all new residents as we are just happy get to sleep past 7am and not worried were fixing to get blanked in the rear. |

Yes this forum is an educational experience for all of us. All that needs to be said can be found in the other thread re this situation. I do wonder why they are the only service company on those squares as everybody else is cash and carry items.
For all the bad on here this really is a nice place to live for years after work. There are occasional bumps in the road but we get past them and move on. Glad you found out ahead of time. Best of all the info was free. Maybe you can take some of that found money and contribute to our year end Christmas party. |

Read the http://www.districtgov.org/ web site VCCDD Agenda and Minutes for the deed compliance public hearings. I think the final step is a hearing where they fine you per day until the violation ends. I don't think they need to go to court just have the hearing.
See minutes for June 2nd 2011 page 6. They didn't care that the unit in question was installed in 2001 and had been in use since that time. The homeowner had 5 months to resolve the issue before the daily fines kicked in. |

Seems to be more than one shill on this site lately?
I started in the fire service in N.Y.State in 1972. Never saw it written any way but FDNY. If I'm wrong - I'm sorry. Strange 1st. post. IMHO. |

Thank you...and all fire fighters for your dedicated service. I wonder the same often. The day before yesterday there was a post ...the fourth and all previous posts of this person were the same, promoting a business and downgrading one of the advertisers on here. Today there was another post, same business, different name but still the same writing style with no punctuation or capitals.

The Admin and Moderators do monitor the site for suspicious activity. We also appreciate feedback from members about questionable posts.
However, we prefer to err on the side of caution and presume first posts like this are made with honest intentions until shown otherwise. |

Therein lies the problem with posting on the internet. I like the free exchange of ideas but just can't bring myself to trust too many people. I grew up in a real small town where you knew everybody and probably knew most of their relatives and even their pets. It's been a real challenge for me to figure out who to trust...on the other hand, I've found that most people I meet are genuine. It's still nice to be able to look 'em in the eye though, isn't it?

I had to figure out what you were trying to say about the fire service Bombero and how that related to this thread. Ow I see. Did the original poster claim he was a fireman in a
Profile or something? It might just be his or her way of remembering their password or some other obscure reason for those initials if that is what you are referring. I too appreciate your service. |

Maybe nycfd1 could explain why he picked that userid? I did not see a problem with it. First post or not.

I don't see a problem period. nycfd didn't malign anyone. It was a thank you for stopping him from making a mistake. Someone want to explain the issues they're having with this post?

There is more useful information on this site than not. Beside which sooner or later, more often sooner, bous posts are outed.
The one issue I have noted is that some posters have not taken the time to read all the posts. You can tell that by their responses which either repeat what was said or often appear unrelated. while on occassion it is warranted , too many posters lately end up writing a book which are both hard to read because the sentences are so closely crowded to gether and because it is too much to absorb with re-reading the post because there doesn't appear to be a logical flow of thought. |

Lost in this hijacked thread is there potentially appears to be a peaceful resolution to the homeowner and the message is getting out there so there shouldn't be any further "misunderstandings" by Pooters or a homeowner.

As a former Chairman of an Architectural Review Committee of an island community, I can tell you the most important thing to remember is that the homeowner is always responsible for the actions on the property. I would suggest that if you're a new owner to be sure and obtain your subdivision restrictions at the closing and then BE SURE TO READ THEM. If you're a long time owner, read them!
In most cases, they will list things you can and cannot do but the part many miss is that just because something specific is not named does not mean you can avoid the permitting process. There is always a catch-all phrase included. If you have any questions, call the ARC for clarification. They will usually try to help if you approach them before a project rather than trying to fix a problem after. Another thing is to NOT trust your contractor if he says he's obtained a permit as part of the particular project you've hired him to do. If he says it's included and he will obtain the permit, insist you see the APPROVED permit BEFORE you let him start work. ARC are usually hard working and under appreciated and catch a lot of flack from novices who are not familiar with the process. Just do your due diligence. That committee is the reason TV is such a nice place.
