Thank You
Positive thoughts and prayers to your wife and you.

As for the weeds, pulling is good exercise and relieves stress. Good luck.

You can always dry it and smoke it. LOL.

Thank you! Tried googling based on what that stuff looks like but got stumped. Seemed like a cross between chickweed and some kind of clover. :-) Spotted Spurge, Chamaesyce (=Euphorbia) maculata – Wisconsin Horticulture

I'm a tea drinker. When I boil my water, I brew my tea. Then I pour the rest of the hot water on the weeds that are in the cracks of my driveway. The next day, the weeds are dead.

Now *that* sounds like *fun*! However, I watched a YouTube video and it seemed that the weeds took longer to succumb to the fire than I'd tolerate. Shucks.

Nothing at all to control this weed can be done. Sell the house and move before its too late.

Default We called this 'spurge' up north.

Very aggressive and difficult to remove without collateral damage to lawns.
Be careful...the sap from weed is a skin irritant.
Had moderate to good success with "Spurge Power" and "MESO4SC".
I don't know if these are available if Florida.

Tell your wife I am living proof that colon cancer chemo works. Surviving 10 years now when I was told I had less than 40% chance of living for 5. I do suffer from extreme peripheral neuropathy as a result of the chemo, however I am alive.

If you prefer a more permanent solution....
1.
Clean out the expansion gaps with a power wash and brush.
2. Allow to dry, then run a vacuum along the crack.
3. Buy (appropriate sized) filler rod from Amazon. Then fill the gap with the "rod" (foam rope) approximately 1/4" below the surface.
4. Lay down duct tape along the edge of the gap.
5. Fill the remaing "gap" with "gap filling" caulk (self leveling - available at local hardware store).
6. Remove the duct tape.

Did this 3 months ago and have not had one weed "grow" through!

Agree 100%. Much cheaper, much easier, and probably even less lethal to people, animals, water supply, etc. Been using this same formula since neighbor shared it 12 years ago. The "recipe" specified "Dawn" detergent but doubt it would matter that much ? Not sure, I've stayed with the original. We've found it sure works better than whatever most of the commercial people spray..and not sure what is in their "formula !

Not something many people would bother to do, but a GREAT idea to keep down the amount of chemicals that go into our water supply for those who don't mind trying this.

If you pull the weed, it will release seeds that you can deal with later. Do not use roundup unless you want to kill the surrounding grass and plants. Vinegar is iffy, less effective, and may kill surrounding plants as well. A targeted Herbicide is MSM. It will kill it, but you you must use it sparingly. Spray the plant once and you will see the spurge turn Purple. It may take a week for it to kill the plant entirely. Over use of the herbicide will kill surrounding grass. You can get MSM at store.doyourownpestcontrol.com. Use only as directed.

Default Weeds by any other name

For those plants, including grass that we have to buy, fertilize, and tend, we have nothing but love. Weeds come for free! And they are green, no? Trying to be "one with the weeds" here while still reflexively bending and pulling as I go....
