Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t the whole point of having those things is so you don’t lose things/them? Or am I missing something?

He worked for Apple for ten years so stop asking foolish questions and send out a search party.

The irony of the original poster calling someone else’s reply “foolish”. They’ve spent hours chasing after something that costs $25 and they can’t work correctly or doesn’t work as intended to begin with… I wonder if people just troll others on here to get attention. I’ve seen bad posts on here, but this might be the worst one yet… Check the lake… Lol…

Default Subscribing to a thread

Decided that I'd go to the trouble of learning how to "subscribe" to a thread over this.

Default It should take you within inches of its location

If used correctly, it will take you within inches of its location

Exactly. A few years ago at Christmas we found our suitcase in the belly of an airport amongst a sea of lost and delayed baggage. Pinged the AirTag and found our bag buried in a stack.

That is how I thought they worked. For the OP, why isn’t this working?

So, what good is it if you can’t locate? Kinda humorous in my opinion.

OP has posted “worked for Apple for 10 years. Please keep posting to helpful to OP.

OP have you put tag into Lost Mode, then any apple phone will ping. I have found this very helpful for a lost pet, and everyone was more than helpful finding the ping, and our pet.

When the tag is attached to something much larger, like a car or golf cart, it is much easier to locate than when you lose only the tag itself. Info in this thread has been very helpful in my understanding of what to do if lost or stolen but I also love the "Seinfeld" episode comment.

How do you lose an air tag? Isn't the whole concept the fact that you know right where it is??

The problem is that the “beeping” you get is not very loud so you may not even hear it unless you’re lucky enough to be right on it ….

I couldn’t find my kitten in the house I used the find application and it tracked the kitten easily and showed a directional arrow and how many feet he was !! Hiding in a cupboard lol so it works
