Can anyone recommend a good orthopedic surgeon for this type of surgery? Also, any recommendations on who to stay away from and why. Thanks!

I don't know any because are fairly new here and haven't had to use that service. However, I'd find a tennis player and ask because we tend to have those types of problems. Will be looking for replies....just in case.

Sorry I am responding so late, but I just saw you post. By now, you've probably had the surgery.
I torn my Achilles in Sept 2008, and Dr. Cedric Tankson did my surgery. I would recommend him ;I am probably 95-98 % back to normal, with just some occasional stiffness. My only complaint about him is the scar from surgery looks like it resulted from a chain saw, but it is on the back inside of my right ankle and no one sees it. Good Luck !! |

Dr. Tankson repaired my wife's ruptured anterior tibial tendon and she is back to 95%. We like him and his manner.

Try Dr Cowin on Old Camp Road. Very good. He's working on my knee and several other people I know have gone to him and are pleased. 352-753-4366

This is probably a bit off subject, but as a pharmacist I sometimes post here. You probably ruptured your Achilles during some type of exercise or activity. But, if anyone is taking the antibiotic Levaquin, they should be aware that tendon rupture is a rare, but serious side effect and if they experience any muscle ache or soreness they should contact their doctor immediately.
