I recently adopted a cat, and a few months after developed and eczema-like rash I can't get under control. I suspect I'm allergic to the beast.

Any opinions on whether an allergist or a dermo would be better suited to treat this? With a copay of $70.00 I'd like to get it right.

Get rid of the cat. Simple

You don't need either one. Ask your primary care doctor to order a blood test for allergy to cat. When it comes back you will then have a decision to make. If positive, most would say, remove the cat. It will still take time for all the cat antigen to leave your environment. Cat will be on clothes, furniture, carpets etc.
If negative then start with derm or primary care. Eczema is not some rare disorder where only a specialist can manage the initial steps.
