i don't know if masks are worth the effort or not but they can't hurt, can they ? this thread does point out how little we still know other than it should rightly be named 'kung flu.'

Most medical personnel say that masks are bad for you to wear for prolonged periods of time
They say you are breathing in your own bacteria and you are also breathing in your own nitrogen which is harmful to the brain when you are breathing it constantly. It was also reported early last week that you should only wear a mask if treating someone with the virus. Who knows if this information will change next week like everything else but I choose to breathe in oxygen versus my own bacteria or nitrogen. |

Yes all those people who died was just because of U.S. politics. This was a world pandemic but you still want to blame it on politics.

And if we had done nothing and had 2 million die what would that of done to the economy?
This has happened before and people were objecting to masks and protesting just like now but some people can’t see that. Remember the Spanish flu, 2 million dead. |

We have people now, and you can see them on every social media site, who react with hysterical outbursts when they see people without masks or not staying six feet away from each other. Remember the hundreds of young people at the lake of the Ozarks party? The hysterics went into overdrive with that crowd, screaming that hundreds would contract the virus. Result: a couple of people came down with it. Same thing with Michigan voting and dire predictions of outbreaks from voting Same thing with bogus attacks on hydroxychloroquine, to spread fear and anxiety. And the fear mongers who deliberately exaggerated the danger for purposes of power or politics or financial gain should be held accountable for the hundreds of thousands people who did not get cancer screenings, treatment for coronary disease or a host of other truly life threatening conditions because they were frightened and bullied into staying home. |

I’m in Massachusetts now and masks are required in public. People ride alone in their car with a mask!!!! That’s like lying in bed alone with a condom on!!!

Here is a study published a few days ago that says the opposite, asymptomatic spread is responsible for 40-45% of cases.
One of the more insidious features of the new coronavirus behind COVID-19 is its ability to settle into unsuspecting hosts who never show signs of being sick but are able to spread the virus to others. In a study published June 3 in the Annals of Internal Medicine, researchers at the Scripps Research Translational Institute reviewed data from 16 different groups of COVID-19 patients from around the world to get a better idea of how many cases of coronavirus can likely be traced to people who spread the virus without ever knowing they were infected. Their conclusion: at minimum, 30%, and more likely 40% to 45%. Nearly Half of COVID-19 Cases May Be Spread Asymptomatically | Time |

"A pound of prevention is worth more than a ton of cure" I remember my Dad talking of the Spanish Flu with coffins stacked up on street corners in Baltimore. Ive spent a bit of time in Viet Nam over the past few years. Everyone wears masks almost all the time. 95 million people . Very few cases and only a handful of deaths.
