Default Need an Oncologist

Can anyone please highly recommend a Good Oncologist. We are in process of moving to TV and need one as soon as we get there.

Any help will be very very much appreciated.

ajdeck, I recently saw an oncologist who was new to me. I made the change due to new insurance I have. While I have only seen him once I am quite impressed so far. His office staff is wonderful and that alone can be hard to find around here. (After living here for almost 13 years, and going from office to office to find good and caring doctors, I have concluded that most of these professionals do not have compassionate and competent staff.) So many of our dealings with our doctor actually go through his or her staff. I have interacted with all kinds of doctors' office staff, from those who only want to talk about their weekend plans with fellow workers to those who have barely any teeth. Don't even get me going about the cleavage being displayed by some of the receptionists! My doctor's office is NOT Hooters! Unprofessionalism is rampant here. I found the staff at Dr. Acevedo's office to be wonderfully professional, and very caring and compassionate. You can read more about him here:

In 2005, I completed Hospice training. Within a month, we discovered my hubby had lung cancer. I asked the head nurse (at that time) for Hospice if she had a recommendation for an oncologist. She immediately recommended Dr. Pablo Reyes. We have used him since that time, and wouldn't even consider changing. He's beyond thorough and goes above and beyond explaining details of findings, treatments, etc.

Dr. Reyes is with Lake Cancer Center, two offices in Lady Lake and one in Leesburg. Lady Lake number is (352) 753-5***.

If you're one that likes to check out a doctor's education, etc., before deciding whether or not you'd like to become their patient, here is a valuable website where you can search any Florida doctor's profile.

Good luck, and I hope you'll love living in TV!

PS: For some reason, I couldn't post the telephone number. If you're interested, PM me, and I'll forward it to you. I will also say, unlike the above poster, we have not encountered the medical issues she talks about, and I think (between hubby and myself) we deal with just about every specialty out there.

My recomendation would be Dr Maen Hussein. He is located in the Sharon Morse building. He has been looking after me for two years. His staff is as good as can be, they are loving and extremly helpful. He is connected to Moffitt and very well thought of with their staff. My wife is a nurse as are some of her friends here. They all recomended him for us. Good luck, and welcome to The Villages.

Default Many Thanks

With all going on with me I don't know if I ever really thanked all of you for your help. Cancer is a scary thing for anyone and don't wish it on anybody.

But those of us who have it know we need each other to get through it.

Many, many thanks for the help.

God be with all of you!

Smile 2nd Opinion

Personal experience with multiple cases of cancer in the family I strongly recommend to always get a second opinion from a major Cancer center. Specifically and in order 1. MD Anderson in Houston, Texas which has been rated #1 in Cancer for quite a few years, 2. Sloan Kettering in NY City which also has a terrific reputation along with #3. Mayo Clinic which is in Rochester, Minn with a satalite in Jacksonville. Suggest Rochester as that is the center.
To go to MD Anderson is not that much trouble as it is only a 2 1/2 hour flight from The Villages out of Orlando.
Please know that we wish the patient the very best!!
