Default Tinnitus

Any tinnitus sufferers out there? I've had mine for 3.5 years after 39 years in a very noisey manufacturing facility. I've never tried any treatment but it took a step change a couple weeks ago for no apparent reason. I haven't read much positive about successful treatments but would like to hear from others with problem.

Whenever I get a ringing in the ears, I massage the Lateral Pterygoid muscle in the mouth. This muscle helps open the jaw and can get stressed. With the index finger you seek the deep pocket back beyond your upper molars. Push back as far as you can, and with short tiny strokes, rub the bump you find back there. Do both sides of your mouth.

I have it. Mine used to change...sometimes chirping, sometimes a hum.....the more stressed I get the worse it gets. most of the time I don't notice it. But now that I'm thinking about it, I can hear ringing. I also got hearing aids and they may have helped some. I would definitely suggest you see an audiologist. The Villages Health System have some good ones. I see Dr. Parisi who is very nice.

Had mine for 30 years. I was in a marching band for 25 years including the Marine Corps Band. Worked heavy construction as an electrician for 38 years. Have had hearing aids for the past 5 years, helps the hearing but not the ringing. Have had numerous test's seen numerous ear doc's and they all said the same thing " learn to live with it". A few Quacks will take your money & say then can help you or make it go away, did I say they Will take your money. If you can sleep at night count your lucky stars.

If you don't have a hearing loss, you could also try a tinnitus masker. As a former audiologist, I would cheerfully say that seeing one should be your first step.

The American Tinnitus Association has lots of reference materials, if you haven't already researched.
