Default Tricare and/or FEHB Recipients?

I am retired military as well as recently retired federal employee. I presently live in Colorado and will soon relocate to the Villages with my wife. I currently carry FEHB as my primary health insurance carrier and Tricare Prime (not Tricare for Life) as my secondary. All of my experience has been with FEHB. I am just shy of my 61st birthday.

My dilemma is simple - I am in a quandary trying to decide if we truly need both insurance carriers when we relocate to the Villages. Can anyone who may be in the same position as I care to comment? Are you happy with the Tricare providers in the area? How about FEHB providers?

Tricare Prime is certainly a great bargain for the insurance dollar spent but at the same time I wouldn’t want any surprises wishing I would have stayed with an FEHB carrier. I realize I can always reinstate my FEHB during the next open season but trying to learn from others if at all possible!

I too am retired mil. (USN) , I would recommend you stay with what you have until you get established in VA healhcare or Medicare.

VA healthcare is good here. A clinic in TV and hospitals about 50 miles in either direction.
