Default Dr Carmelia Eberuche/Dr Michael Glick

Just looking for feedback on these two doctors. I have seen one of them who came highly recommended, but I was not comfortable with the way the doctor disagreed with much of the treatment I had previously received up north before I came to TV. So, I'm thinking of switching from one doctor to the other.
Any opinions on either doctor?
Thanks for your input.

Dr. Eburuche has been treating us for 3 years. We think she is excellent. Very detail oriented, caring and does not mince words. She tells it like it is!

I don't know Dr Glick, but I have been very pleased with Dr Eburuche. She spends a lot of time with me and has a wonderful sense of humor. I'm very happy to have found her.

Add me to the happy patients' list of Dr Eburuche! She's a hoot, and knows her stuff. And she's from "up North" (Michigan) too!

Default Real bad time with Dr. Glick.

My friend used Dr. Glick and had a terrible experience with him. Two of her other doctors told her she urgently needed a certain test that insurance companies say that only an internist can order. He refused to, in fact he got his back up when told that other doctors suggested it and continued to refuse. Finally a fourth doctor with a specialty that was okay for him to order the test did, and sure enough it was positlve. Glick. She says his office is like a mill and mainly the only tests he will order are what he himself has people in his own office doing. Thats scary when you need something else and you have a doctor whos ego gets in the way of what the patient needs. You can be sure that she will NEVER go back to Dr. Glick.

I saw Dr. Eburuche a couple of times, and I did like her personality. I did have a few issues, but those would be my own personal likes/dislikes, and it wouldn't be fair to air those here.

One major problem I had was that she does not make any hospital visits. If you become hospitalized, for whatever reason, you would be treated by hospital staff physicians. Those physicians supposedly keep her in the loop, but your treatment decisions are theirs, not hers.

My husband was hospitalized recently with several doctors involved in his care. It was very comforting to have our primary care physician come in daily, including Saturdays and Sundays, to give us a summary of where we were and discuss how he felt about what was to happen next.

As a patient of Dr Eburuche, I was in the hospital twice for surgery, Along with my surgeons, who visited me daily, I was also seen by a hospitalist at least twice a day. I had been familiar with Hospitalists as we have a cousin that is one. We also had an experience where a friend of ours was in the hospital and were so pleased that the Hospitalist discovered something not previously found (this was in another state) So, it was a 2nd opinion type thing.

It allows office docs to keep a more normal schedule and gives the patient a physician who is always there for them while in the hospital.

All, thanks for your input. I guess we can always find good and not so good opinions about anyone.

Peazup, were you really looking for advice, or were you just "Doctor Bashing"? The way some posters do "Restaurant Bashing". ... Dr. Glick is "board certified" and has been practicing in The Villages for over 15 years, he's not a "newby" to the medical community and he is highly respected. ...My wife and I have been patients of his for over 5 years and his referrals to us have all been to the top specialists in the area, many of whom will not accept new patients unless they are referred by someone like Dr Glick.

Peazup was not doctor bashing. She simply posed a question - the responses to which I am intensely interested myself. We need to have confidence in our doctors and it was a very fair question.

same:

If Peazoup were "doctor bashing" she would have identified a particular doctor. Her query was clearly and simply researching for a choice. How unfair of you to even question if that was her motive..... "doctor bashing."

Furthermore, everyone is entitled to voice their opinion within this forum whether it be positive or negative. That's why the information in this forum can be extremely effective in decision-making, especially for "newbies."

Thank you for your positive input regarding Dr Glick. I'm sure that this information will be very helpful in "same's" decision in choosing a doctor, as well as other residents who are also in need of opinions in choosing a local doctor.

Thank you JoJo and Barb1191. I'm glad you could see that I was just looking for opinions from people who might have information on either doctor. To "Same" - do not assume. I do not "bash" anyone. TOTV is a wealth of information on almost any question one may have regarding issues good or bad in The Villages. So it follows that one can and should be able to pose such questions.

Sorry to add a negative note but my experience with Dr Eberuche was not good. She diagnosed me with heart disease and told me I could have complete renal failure at any time because I had an UTI and have stent near my kidney. Both of these conditions were proved to be wrong when I returned to NY to my regular doctors. Her personality is great but I would not use her again....
