My wife is currently considering surgery for "lifting" of her upper eyelids and have talked to different doctors pertaining to this.
I am a firm believer in "recommendations" vs "advertisement and have gone to "Talk of The Villages" many times for referrals and or opinions and greatly appreciate any and all advice. Was wondering if anyone has had this done and who you might recommend. As always very much appreciate your help |

I did it for one eye some years ago and was a relatively simple operation and was awake for it.
However had it done in Virginia so cannot make a recommendation for a local Dr. |

If the drooping eyelid is interfering with her side vision, then Medicare will pay for it. This happened to my spouse. He was startled whenever a car pulled up alongside us. That's a safety hazard, so Medicare covers it.

I had both eyes done at the same time. A little freaky but not traumatic at all. I had mine done in Mobile, Al so cannot recommend a surgeon. Mine was paid for by my medical insurance as it was interfering with my peripheral vision. There is a special eye exam that determines the sever of the problem.

I used Dr. Stacia Goldey. She was great. Was at the Mid Florida Eye CenterIn Summerfield, but I was told she isn't there any longer. I am sure you can track her down on google.

You have to be awake as you have to do something, I can’t remember what that was though. The freaky part is you have your eyes closed during the procedure and when the start to cut the eyelid, you can see light!

My wife used Dr. Stacey Goldey at Mid Florida Eye. Dr. Goldey was very professional and the procedure was perfect. Medicare did pay for it. They preform a test to determine the percentage of droop which qualifies for Medicare. I don't think Dr. Goldey is at Mid Florida Eye currently. I think she left to start her own practice. Google her.

While I haven’t had a blepharoplasty, a couple years ago I had a small skin cancer where my nose and the corner of my eye meet, and the plastic surgeon took a skin graft from my eyelid. That was close to the size of a blepharoplasty. The anesthetic going in was about as painful as anesthetic for a dental filling. After that, no pain at all, and it didn’t take long. I may even have fallen asleep. After the surgery, I don’t think I took any painkiller except for a couple ibuprofen the first night. I was shocked by how pain free it was.

Dr Terpstra the way to go. She did my eye lids and browse a few years ago. Some Short term discomfort after surgery but tolerable.

I used Dr Goldey for my eyelid biopsy (skin cancer). She has since left the area, believe in Tampa now. After my eyelid surgery to remove the cancer, I used Dr Kim, Ocala Eye, to close my eyelid and sew me up. I had a significant piece taken out of my eyelid a year & half ago, and now you can’t tell. I would check with her. Believe she does this eyelid surgery as well. Highly recommend her.

I used Dr. Jodie Armstrong Ocala Eye at Laurel Manor. Had it done a couple of months ago. Put me to sleep. Medicare paid for it. Most annoying part of the whole thing was having to tape plastic eye protectors to sleep at night. Very glad I did it.
