The latest installment from the "would you all just hurry up and die" corner of the universe.

Dear poster, why don’t you do a little bit of analysis yourself? Look at the data in the various countries or, if you prefer only the US, the different states and compare the number of people who are vaccinated who get Covid to the number of people who are not. Do the same for hospitalization. If you are here you have internet. The main strain is Delta now so you’ll be comparing oranges to oranges. See for yourself. Don’t take my word for it or anyone else’s. Look for yourself.

2) From what I understand (and I may be wrong) is that the flu shot you get this year is NOT for the current version of the FLU but based upon the previous years of FLU.

Not quite. The CDC and WHO go to predominantly SE Asia and China in Dec-Feb and sample people for the strains of influenza that are predominating----which is usually the ones that will hit the US starting in the fall. They give those strains to the vaccine manufacturers (of which the last US company was Wyeth in 1997 because our lawyers put them all out of business so now we rely 100% on foreign sources for flu shots), and the vaccine is produced over the summer for distribution in the fall/winter. It's not a perfect process but reasonable.

3) Do I think that those that decline are stupid? No, it is their right and it is their personal choice.

Yes, but the two are not mutually exclusive
Why would Asia get the flu strains first? Their flu season is the same as ours. I heard they track the flu strains in countries in the southern hemisphere, i.e. Australia and South America.

The Vaccinated Are Worried and Scientists Don’t Have Answers

Was afraid of this being the case....

The Vaccinated Are Worried and Scientists Don’t Have Answers

Anecdotes tell us what the data can’t: Vaccinated people appear to be getting the coronavirus at a surprisingly high rate. But exactly how often isn’t clear, nor is it certain how likely they are to spread the virus to others. And now, there’s growing concern that vaccinated people may be more vulnerable to serious illness than previously thought.

There’s a dearth of scientific studies with concrete answers, leaving public policy makers and corporate executives to formulate plans based on fragmented information.

Because that's just the way it is, no idea why. They do sample S America as well

Interesting choice of paragraphs to quote - from the beginning of the article. I wonder if you read to the end where you would have found:

All that said, some facts are well established at this point. Vaccinated people infected with the virus are much less likely to need to go to the hospital, much less likely to need intubation and much less likely to die from the illness. There’s no doubt that vaccines provide significant protection. But a large proportion of the nation -- almost 30% of U.S. adults -- have not been vaccinated, a fact that has conspired with the highly contagious delta variant to push the country into a new wave of outbreaks.

“The big picture here is that the vaccines are working and the reason for the spike in the U.S. is we have too little vaccine uptake,” Frieden said.

There you go again, confusing conspiracy people with facts. Please stop doing that, as it 'might' (a lot will just ignore the facts) affect the wacko sites bottom line and then they will just be adding to the unemployment rate.

The “subject” is the same. Has been for some time.

There are so many that are simply “anti United States Government”, no matter what form that takes.

Might be anti Faucci as we see some on this thread, anti vaccine, etc. Each may show as an individual issue, but they are the same people who you can coun t on to bash the United States when it is uncomfortable, and then hide behind a flag to proclaim how patriotic they are.

Pick any subject that, on this forum, and apparently in “real life”, each side will have the exact same followers.

I happen to trust my government, and while not perfect, i look for them to do their job in an American way, which includes Justice for all , truth to everyone, and a good ear for listening.

Drducat, Bloomberg is a respectable source, your citing:

“Though it is evident vaccination still provides powerful protection against the virus, there’s growing concern that vaccinated people may be more vulnerable to serious illness than previously thought.”

But again, instead of looking at what other people say, why don’t you look at the data directly yourself - not anecdotes, aggregate data. And you can also follow the changes as the virus develops (on the internet )and no one needs to tell you what to think.

The concern is the waning of the vaccine is not consistent at all and some folks never achieve any immunity that is robust enough to protect.

Vaccines were and still are the wrong approach. We are not going to ever achieve herd immunity...never.....This will forever evolve just like the common cold and never go away.....Therapeutics are the only answer.......all funding needs to be directed to a cure not a vaccine.
