Does anyone have Tricare Retiree Dental, and if so, is there a local dentist you can recommend?

Like someone in another post stated "Don't you just take them out and mail them in ?" I just had to use that as the gang at work rolled when I read it to them.

Seriously I am also looking into what type of insurance others in TV are using that have not reached Medicare age.

I have Tri care prime for medical but I didn't know that tri care offers dental, but I could be wrong.

I have look into the dental benefit. It seems to me that the cost vs benefit just does not get it. With co-pay, annual max, and monthly cost, I think that it is not reasonable.

Tricare uses Delta Dental to provide dental benefits. I don't particularly think that is very good insurance but then I don't particularly think any of the available dental insurance plans are very good. Most dentists around TV will submit a claim for you to Delta (or almost any other dental insurance plan) but very few "accept" dental insurance in the way doctors accept medical insurance. Almost always, you are asked to pay 100% of the bill for dental service then the dentist office will submit your claim and the insurance company pays you "your share" directly. System sucks but it seems to be the only game in town. Just make sure you choose a dentist who will submit the claim paperwork for you. Having to do it yourself, especially if an X-ray or some such is required, can be a major hassle.

I got a quote from Cigna for $45 a month for the two of us. I will be switching to Tricare Prime in July when my employers insurance ceases due to my retirement. Like the other military retirees, I would like to know if someone has a better plan. Delta was more expensive than Cigna.

4 dentist are listed for zip 32162 on the tricare web side one is southern trace dental

TomW ---------For your Info----- I had Cigna Dental Insurance for many years when I lived up north. It worked really well for me. When I moved down here, the dentists that I checked with did not accept Cigna. I found a place about40 miles from TV that accepts it, but the joint was so outdated and dirty that I wouldn't bring my dog there. There are some places in Ocala that accept Cigna, but I didnt check them out. I ended up dropping the insurance and just paying cash.
