Default canadian travel insurance

We are Canadians hoping to be in TV for 3 mos and don't know what the best out of province health insurance to look at. Hubby is 69 with health issues ongoing and I am 59. Medical coverage may stop us from coming so if anyone has any advice we would appreciate it.
Many thanks

We are retired government employees and use Medoc. Friends of ours who are not retired government employees use Manulife. Worth a try.

Frannie, The Canadian Snowbird Association recommends Medipak (you can see more information by looking at the CSA Website.). We use Manulife Financial because it is provided by Fireboy's Fire Department. Some friends got an amazing deal through Loblaws! Most companies do not want you to change medication within six months of travel so please be careful about that!

Don't lose heart my friend. Nothing is impossible. Please get info on Medipak. They are a huge organization and highly recommended by CSA. Good luck!

Find a good travel insurance broker.
If you go to CAA, banks, etc. They deal with one company only. Price is low but if you read all of the fine print and warnings, we were not comfortable because in plain terms the insurance company looks for anthing they can back out of if you have a claim.

We go to the actual broker that offers and deals with many companies. You take in a list of all your meds, a list of of what you want to be covered for , then they match your condition with what you want to be covered for.

The price will be effected by what you want to be covered for. So if you want coverage for a pre-existing condition or have changed your needs anytime you can get coverage. The only condition is if you have a change in your medical condition or prescription, you then have to inform the broker. They contact the insurance company , you may have an extra fee, but you are covered. Each year we purchase an annual policy. But the insurance company may be different each time, depending on what coverage we want.

How do you find the broker?. Ask the people that offer one company only. Tell them you have cancer, they will tell you cannot buy insurance through them. Then ask then where can I get insurance from. That is the way we got connected, they gave us a phone number. (we do not have cancer)

Alot of our friends that travel feel they have purchased the correct coverage: However when you read the fine print out to them, their faces turn beet Red and realize that maybe they do not have coverage for someting they were tested for 10 years ago.
