A friend of mine called his Dr "Captain Kirk" just before his first colonoscopy.

The doctor was confused and asked why. He replied, "Because you're about to go where no man has gone before". The entire OR cracked up and the doctor said, "I'm so stealing that!"

When you use Cologuard at home, how do you send it back to them? Stool pigeon?

Is this a recent episode of diverticulitis and you're 85 now, or some previous episode and you're older, because it makes a difference. I take it you didn't have a bowel perforation with the diverticulitis otherwise this would have gone in a different direction. In either case, it sounds like he wants to exclude a secondary cause. In general, I would rate this as a 7 out of 10 on an aggressiveness scale if and only if it was a simple, uncomplicated episode of diverticulitis without further complications, given your age. But this is a whole different issue than performing a routine screening colonoscopy at your age.

My new doctor's nurse asked me if I had ever had a colonoscopy and I said yes which was true but it was for some trial drug I was taking or something like that as they paid for the thing. It was clear anyway. I do think that the trial drug had something to do with preventing you from having to have a colonoscopy. Something about colon health.

I did have to go up to Ocala a number of times for them to monitor various things because of a drug I was taking.

This was up in Ocala l do recall that my parents had to take me as I was not allowed to drive after the procedure because of the anesthesia.

I have been in the Villages now for 21.5 years and I think this was soon after we moved here . We moved here in 2005. This was probably before 2007.
