Federal Employees Health/Dental/Vision insurance Open Season is about to start November 10. Although I have had their health insurance continuously for years, I have never had their Dental/Vision insurance options. Since I am about to retire in December I thought I should sign up for both Dental and Vision since it is so cheap. My question is does anyone have any opinions of which insurance company to go with? I was thinking either DELTA or AETNA for Dental and AETNA for Vision? Do you recommend or not recommend either of these? There are other options, but these 2 seem to be the most familiar.

Most insurances don't pay much for dental, so I was looking for something better than FedBlue alone.
![]() Checking with the billing folks at my dentist's office made up my mind to go with GEHA. We've had GEHA for 3 years now, and we are satisfied. We found vision insurance to be a total waste of money. Sticking with the optometrist recommended by our family doctor that we liked and using online or WM for glasses was a much better deal.

I retired 2 yrs ago. I have BC/BS Basic for healthcare. GEHA High Option for dental. VSP for vision. I have been very happy with all three. I've used other plans for each in the past, but was not as satisfied with the benefits, co-pays, or out-of-pocket expenses on the other plans. I haven't studied any new choices available for 2015 because I'm so pleased with what I have I don't intend to make any changes. I live in The Villages and have successfully been able to use all of my above cited plans here.
