Went to this new Dermatologist, Dr. Cottam, who has an office in the Summit. As a new patient I was asked for insurance cards, personal ID and A CREDIT CARD. Why the credit card I asked. The surley office staff person said to pay for anything not covered by insurance. I said "an anything you happen to bill wrong." Answer yes. So I asked "why would I leave an open credit card account with you?" Answer " the doctor said so." JUST A SIMPLE WARNING - DON'T DO IT. TOO MANY WAYS FOR YOU TO GET SCAMMED. NOT SURE THE OFFICE SECURITY IS THAT GOOD EITHER.

I have been using Dr Cottam for a while and he is great. He knows his stuff.
Many Drs as well as LABCORP want a credit card even though my insurance pays everything. I just tell them NO and I am not leaving a credit card...believe me....everyone wants money and they are not going to let you leave because you did not leave a card on file. They want the money, your neighbor wants money....your insurance card and ID is all that you will need.... Last edited by Moderator; 04-11-2012 at 03:51 PM. Sorry, but when I told Dr Cottams very unpleasant office lady that I would not leave an open credit card behind.. she told me I would have to pay cash. I too have excellent insurance that covers everything including my Medicare deductible. Might be a good doctor, but he needs to get his staff/office squared away.
