Default Hacking cough

Anybody else have or had a hacking cough with phlegm that lasts for 1-2 months? What treatment did you seek and what finally helped?

I would suggest not going to the internet for health advice.

I had bronchitis and my doc says it can hang on for a couple of months. Prescribed some Rx cough syrup, but mostly just had to deal with it until it finally went away.

See your doctor.

I had it and my wife had it and it lasted a good 6 to 8 weeks. Doctor said not much can be done with it. I found that Robitussin DM worked the best to break it up and breathe in Vick's Vapo Rub on a handkerchief to open a stuffy nose.

Mrs. EDJ had that for months. I think a year and a half. It was a few years back. Turned out, doctor and pathology diagnosed pertussis. The rest of us call that Whooping Cough. Crazy, right? Wonder why I didn't get it from her? Well, not really - I've never had Covid or Mumps, or Measles, or Chicken Pox or anything besides an occasional sinus infection or common cold. Or food poisoning. Or alcohol poisoning, but that was only once when I turned 21.

Not looking for medical advice. Been to MD. Was just curious how many people had it, how long and what finally helped.

I had chronic asthmatic bronchitis for around 20 years. It eventually went away by itself.

You will get lots of replies (some are actually decipherable, proofreading is as rare as reading comprehension) but very few actual answers to the question.

From 6 weeks to two months. Deep but and decreasing amount of coughs. I have seen others clear faster and some same. Sometimes sleeping on side or upright. Humidifier in dry climates. Hydrate. I have no product to recommend but am going to return to Vicks as an expirament. . Best wishes.

Boiling water, a drip or two of Olbas, or Eucalyptus in the bowl, towel over head, inhale. for 5-10 minutes, a few times a day.
Works well.

It's called RSV ... a virus...the harsh symptoms can be prevented ( people argue about getting vaccines, but both Candidates for President received theirs)
