I was 52 y/o and 54 y/o for the second hip. I walked immediately with a cane, returned to work (sit/stand combination) in two weeks. My legs worked fine. I didn't do PT and didn't have any noticeable muscle strength loss. I had a very excellent surgeon in WA state and have titanium hips.

My quads took about two weeks until they felt good. Do the PT and don't take it lightly. IMO it is very important, had my hip dome in 2003 @ age 50. So far so good!!!
