A neighbor came to me with a problem about getting Medicare Supplement Plan info from this organization (AMAC). Because she’s essentially deaf and cannot use a phone, she contacted them on their website as she couldn’t find anything on the website about their offerings, which in itself seems strange. The only response she got was a request for a phone number. She wrote back to explain that she cannot use a phone and does not use a telephone device for the deaf (not comfortable with it) and asked for info to be emailed. She never heard back from them, leaving her with the impression that if they are unresponsive about one question, they will generally be unresponsive about everything. She’s left with a negative feeling about AMAC and has asked me to share her story. She is now looking elsewhere. Thank you.

Nothing is free. We pay for everything through our taxes, just as is the case in every other developed country in the world, just about. I believe the U.S. Constitution established "free education," and it does exist, but would anyone call it "free"? Often Canadians refer to their health care as "free," but there too it's paid for via taxes. And when it comes to health care, I disagree that it's something that "your heart desires"; rather it's something that's essential for "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness." (Do we remember these words?)

And BTW, the same legislature that rejected 55 billion dollars in federal money gets their own health care coverage for $8.25 per month.
This is appalling! I was not aware of this and thank you for publicizing it. I view health care as a societal issue (NOT a political one) in the sense that a healthy society requires health care--ALL members of our society. But for the Florida Legislature to reject $55 billion in OUR federal tax dollars that will now go to other states is simply an outrage--a real slap in the face to Florida citizens while evidently these same legislators are not wanting for health care coverage!!! Maybe we should contact them and ask for accountability? Or is that a lesson in frustration?...
