Default Insurance

Does anyone have a list of the facilities/doctors that are affected by the decision not to accept any insurrance other than United health care? Is this immediate or starting in 2017.

The list is here: The Villages Health | America's Healthiest Hometown

It's all the docs at the primary care centers. The docs at the specialty care center are not affected. It's effective 1/1/2017.

Also, the Village Health care SPECIALISTS are not affected, as they accept both the Advantage plan as well as the supplement plans.

Smile I bet this guy.....

I'm actually certified with Cigna, Humana and United Healthcare and have been doing this for over 10 years now. Some people can accept the fact that they need help and that's what I'm here for. I posted that I'm willing to answer any questions that someone might have about Medicare in general along with just finding out the facts about what the UHC plan offers.

In all honesty I do get paid to do and when somebody gets enrolled I have to disclose to them that UHC payes a commission and i do this because it's my job! I get paid to give something away for free!!! & I love what I do because I get to help people that truly need the help and the good news is it doesn't cost the members a dime out of their pocket to pay a monthly premium for the plan because it's a $0 cost plan.

I don't know much about Medicare Advantage plans, but, in my opinion, the Medicare supplement plans are a rip-off. Just pay the Medicare co-pays out of pocket and you will save a lot on money.

Most medicare Advantage Plans are called mapd plans which stands for a Medicare Advantage prescription drug plan. It combines parts A,B & D together and is sometimes commonly referred to as a plan C. If you want a separate Part D drug plan to help cover prescriptions the average cost is $40 a month but with a Medicare Advantage plan it's inclusive and the plan is $0 monthly.

Example, Let's say you went to your primary care physician, Medicare by itself will cover 80% of the bill and you're responsible for the other 20% and the doctor charges Medicare $300, your cost for that visit is $60. With a Medicare Advantage plan when you see your doctor you have a flat copay of $25 the only catch with having an advantage plan is staying within the network of doctors, so if you live in The Villages can see a doctor in the network then you're covered and the plan doesn't cost you a dime to have it and in essence will help you save money. With original Medicare if you have to have a major surgery and it costs $100,000 you're entitled to pay $20,000 there isn't a cap aon amaximum out-of-pocket, with an advantage plan there is a cap at $6000 a year and once you meet that the plan pays 100% of your medical bills for the rest of the year. So there are more Pros then cons with having an advantage plan

I would only suggest someone getting a Medicare supplement if they had major health issues and they were having to see a primary care every month and multiple specialist monthly and they were always in and out of the hospital. It would be cheaper to pay $250 a month then pay thousands of dollars every month for doctors bills and hospital bills. Every persons situation is different and if you're in good health then I would not recommend a supplement because it could be a waste of money.

Went to a seminar given by an orthopedic doctor who is using robotic surgery for a certain procedure. When asked if his practice participates in The Villages UHC Medicare Advantage plan, the answer was "no." That is a major weakness of Advantage plans.

Yes, you will save a lot of money (around $3600/year for two of us), however, our family recently had a medical procedure that totaled over $125,000 Medicare covered 80%, our supplemental plan covered very close to 20%, our cost was less than $300.
So what you say is true, as long as you are healthy, if not, then you have elected to be self-insured for the 20%, and if you have sufficient resources this will work. In the above example, without the supplemental plan we could have been on the hook for ~$25,000.
