I see there is a seminar tomorrow put on by the Radnothy Perry Orthopaedic Center. The advertisement says they use the side approach to knee surgery using robotic surgery. They cite it's "muscle sparing" benefit, so it sounds like Dr. Truong to the casual reader.
The ad mentions knee resurfacing, I'll have to see what that means. Has anyone used this medical group and what was the outcome? |

Did you have a total knee replacement or a partial? Dr Ollivierre did mine 18 months ago and I have poor flexibility, loss of strength and endurance. Back in rehab again but nothing is improving, especially degree of bend, only 102 degrees

That said, it is absolutely imperative that the patient heeds the follow up care instructions, and does the entire rehabilitation regimen. Don't overdo it, but do what's required. Whatever you decide regardless of the doctor you choose, I wish you the best. Good Luck ! |

Stem cell therapy is still experimental. I don't think it's covered by insurance. If you're an older person, i.e., over 30, and have developed arthritis , stems cells don't change the arthritic conditions and knee replacement is needed. It doesn't cost more to get it done by a national specialist. I see Dr Dennis Burke out of B.I. Deaconess Hospital in Boston - considered one of the best in the country.

Hello, I have just had my right knee done by Dr Michael Messieh. He does the anterior approach and does not cut the muscle. Today is the start of my 8th week of "recovery." I played golf today and while not entirely pain free in the knee area, the total replacement is doing phenominal. I have great motion and stability and the pain I had prior to surgery is long gone. Total recovery takes a while but once I could walk on my own (about a week), I have not used and aids. I am able to do household chores-wash the car, clean the windows, run the vacuum etc., and Dr Messieh and his staff was just wonderful. He's a doctor who just happens to be one great surgeon. He has and office one day a week in The Villages and his main office is in Clermont. His wait time to do surgery is very short. I'd give him a 5 star rating. His number is 352-243-6899 and I know you'll be happy with him.

Dr. Duke replaced my knee. I started playing pickleball in three weeks after surgery. Maybe my case was different? I lived with knee pain for about ten years before deciding to get it fixed. Had orthoscopic work done on it and then messed it up by stepping into a hole while carrying something heavy. Must have tore it up somewhat because after moving to the Villages and becoming somewhat active, I had to get it replaced. I am satisfied with Dr.Duke and would go back to him again for the other knee if necessary.

I had a knee replacement by Dr. Nguyen, like many others in my neighborhood before me, and mine turned out to be misaligned. Going in from the side does not allow him to see how far to go on the other side and it is NOT a perfect method. I had to have mine completely redone (NOT by Nguyen) in the tried and true method a year later and it was not fun to go through again. Do it right the first time. I had Dr. Williams the second time and now my leg is actually fixed and usable. Do NOT assume Dr. Nguyen is your answer!!!!!
