I'm looking for a good first alert medical response system for my elderly mother. The ones that allow you to press a button on a wrist bracelet or necklace to call for emergency help. Please let me know if you use one and if you like it, cost too please. Thanks!

When my parents were still alive, I had Life Alert for them. One thing with that company, at least when they had the system at their house was that the contract could not be terminated unless they were to move to a care facility or living with a caregiver or a caregiver with them. Please make sure you know how any company sets up a contract to provide alert service....you don't want to be tied down to one company if you decide it isn't working out.

I had a few for my mom, cannot remember their names but just want to mention that my mom's secondary insurance paid the fee for it, just in case you have that opportunity. Both companies I had worked well and I thought I had First Alert but maybe not. I cancelled both with no issue, they cancel when you return the unit and the activation device like the necklace or bracelet.

It helps if the person depending on it is mentally alert. I had a 90 year old neighbor who had some kind of "first alert" system. I think she wore it around her neck. One day she fell down in her house and couldn't get up. She was on the floor for several hours until her daughter came over to check on her. When her daughter asked why she didn't press the button for help, she said she forgot that she had it. Luckily, she wasn't hurt.
