Lost health care plan
WELL THE SHOE FINALLY FELL AND HIT ME. AFTER HAVING SEEN MY ORIGINAL EMPLOYER SOLD AND RESOLD, THE LATEST OWNER, H.J.HIENZ SENT ME A NOTICE THAT THEY WOULD NOT RENEW COVERING RETIREES, IN THEIR HEALTHCARE COVERAGE, STARTING 1/1/2016. THE WORLD OF HC PLANS SEEMS OVERWHELMINGLY DIFFICULT TO SIFT THROUGH.
WOULD APPRECIATE KNOWING CONTACTS THAT WOULD/COULD HELP ME THROUGH THE MORASS OF INFORMATION IN SELECTING AN APPROPRIATE REPLACEMENT PLAN. WOULD LIKE AN INDEPENDENT SO AN OVERVIEW OF THE MARKET AND CHOICE LEVEL WOULD BE BROAD. ANY ADVICE? GCATARIUSATOC@COMCAST.NET OR PM https://www.talkofthevillages.com/fo...ies/pcuser.gif |

when I worked for the VA we saw this a lot. If you are a veteran you should look into that.

If not elgible for Medicare, you best bet would be Affordable Care Act. Although you won't be too popular with local fat cats that don't need it and haven't been in your position..
I also lost insurance with previous employer who cancelled everyone because he didn't want to negotiate with insurance companies every year. You'll lose a lot of friends when you mention AFA, but it saved me and my wife. |

I have no clue what you meant by your post- please be more specific about the VA and what to look into. |

using VA
what I meant was some veterans who had lost their health insurance were able to get health care thru the VA. if one is a veteran in that position, it would be worth checking with the eligibility dept. of the VA.

When I turned 65 and got my Medicare, I was so relieved because as an independent business owner I had been paying almost $800 a month on Health Insurance. I found out through SHINE (a free service here in the Villages) that my next step was to find an Advantage or supplemental plan to cover what regular Medicare didn't. I was told that United Health Care and Florida Blue were the best two options for this area. I chose Florida Blue because United Health was changing how many specialists they offered. Once I made that choice I went to the Florida Blue office at 11974 CR 101 (Palm Plaza).
It's right behind CVS off of 466. I spoke with a lady named Renata. She showed me all of the options for Advantage and Supplemental plans. I chose an Advantage plan and have had a good experience with it. I highly recommend calling Renata for some guidance, Her number is 352-259-0666. |

Try Chandy Spayd, licensed insurance broker at Focal Point Insurance Services. 352-205-7178 or 352-288-0728. I have used her for the last two years to get health insurance and will use her for four months next year until I qualify for Medicare, then will use her for my Medicare advantage sign up. She is VERY knowledgeable, helpful and no pressure whatsoever.
