Default Dr. Monique Gray

Has anyone used Dr. Gray for hip or knee problems? If so, sure would appreciate your thoughts. I'm currently "seeing" Dr. Duke in Ocala, but only get to actually see his assistant for diagnosing problems. I'd like to see someone locally so if anyone has any experience with local orthopedic doctors, please advise. Thanks!

Be careful with that group. Saw one Dr. When I moved here 6 years ago. Didn't like him much but out of neccessity had minor surgery. Last year when I needed something and scheduled with Dr. Gray. She begrudgingly did what she needed to do but in no certain terms told me that I needed to stay with the Dr. I originally used in the group.. Won't go back there ever.

We thought Dr. Gray no longer did surgery.

You are correct with Dr. Duke, sees you once before the surgery, sees you once to sign off on you and in the meantime you see his Assistant. BUT, he is a superb surgeon - he did my husband's hip two months ago.

My hubby is 2 weeks out from his knee replacement. I will tell you that Dr Duke is about as good as they get. he has replaced OVER 7,000 knees and has it figures out.
His office staff is phenominal and Susan; his assistant (not surgical) is cracker jane (or jack).
I am as critical as one can be when it comes to matters of health and surgery, I am right there. He is a gifted surgeon and treats you like family.
Best of luck

First let me say Dr Duke is one of the best doctor's..well respective.

I went to Dr Gray at the end of September.. Needed a short of cortisone in my knee.. Shot only worked for 10 days.
Bedside manner not the best.
Will not be using this Dr. again

My wife is planning on getting a hip replacement in the fall with Dr. Gray.
She got a shot but it did not last long either.
We have heard good things about dr. duke as well.
She would have it done at The Villages hospital.
Please keep the comments coming.

Dr Duke really has a super reputation, when it comes to knees. He has a picture in his office of him doing his 6,000nth knee!! He must be doing something right. My Sally just had her 2nd knee replacement last month by Dr Duke. This surgery is healing perfectly, just like the other one she had done 3 yrs ago. Now they don't use staples or stitches anymore, just glue. Everywhere we go, we are told that Dr Duke is the best. He doesn't have to advertise, because of his reputation through word of mouth. I've never heard a bad word about Dr Duke, and the office staff is just great and very professional

Have used Dr. Grey, always see her when I have an appointment. She is conservative and talks to you about the problem and what your needs are.

I have only heard wonderful things about Dr. Duke, but if you are looking for an outstanding group within the Villages, please consider Tri-County Orthopaedic Center. This group of male surgeons are excellent, but I found the female Dr Thomas (doesn't do surgical procedures)a bit kooky as I saw her for back pain and she indicated I should see I GI dr to rule out pancreatic cancer (unfounded, confusing to my GI Dr and certainly outside of herscope of practice). She found nothing wrong with my back but I ended up at pain clinic for steroid injections for severe osteoarthritis. Again, I have worked with these doctors and, if I needed ortho surgery, I would only go to this group. Hope this helps!

Thank you all for your comments. I did see Dr. Grey for a second opinion and she agreed I needed my hip replaced. After much research and prayer, I have decided to have Dr. Duke do the surgery. I didn't want the inconvenience of going to Ocala, but my husband overruled me and said the peace of mind and confidence that Dr. Duke's reputation gives me far outweighs any inconvenience. As far as Dr. Gray is concerned she was pleasant but didn't give me a very strong impression. Thanks again for your input
