Default Flu Shot Time

Mrs. Trap and I will be heading out on a cruise in mid-September so we de ided to get the flu shots now. They should be fully in force (takes a couple of weeks) by then.

I got mine at Publix pharmacy. I don't have Part B but my FEHB covered the high dose vaccine with no co-pay.

I felt a little achy yesterday but back to 100 percent today. Sure is better than getting influenza. It is amazing to think how many thousands of Americans die each year from the flu.

I am a believer in getting a high dose flu shot. I didn't know they started this early in the year. Always good to get one before they run out of the vaccine.

Absolutely. And to answer the question, it is about 35,000 on average each year, mostly those under 1 year old and those over 80, and the majority of those are from dehydration or secondary bacterial pneumonitis

In 20 years of practicing medicine I have seen some pretty bad flu years, so everyone should get their flu shot. The side effects are zero to minimal, and it could save your life. And don't think skipping the shot and taking Tamiflu if you get sick is a good idea, trust me, it is not.
