Default Macular Degeneration

My wife was diagnosed with Macular Degeneration last Nov. 2014. She's currently on a regimen of Vits., eye wash and Fruits to hopefully regenerate eye cells that caused macular degeneration.

Reading fine newspaper print is virtually impossible unless magnified 2 or 3 times and a bright light. Regular drug store reading glasses do not work. We searched the Internet and found all sorts of devises to improve ones reading ability from $10.00 to $ 3,000. Telescopic glasses were among this group of products, at around $180 to $200. There is a separate pair for close up reading etc. and one for distance viewing. We'd like to try them before laying out close to $400 and see if they really work.
QUESTION: Does anybody know where you can buy telescopic glasses in this area of Florida? or other glasses that would do the trick?

We would appreciate some feed back.

Regards,

Smile Here's a suggestion.

I'm a little bit at a loss about the treatment that your wife is receiving for macular degeneration.

My friend Barbara was diagnosed with wet macular degeneration over a year ago by the Tampa Eye Clinic and they started her on a regimen of quarterly shots directly into the eye, along with vitamins. The goal was to halt the degeneration, with the understanding that it seldom improves. However, in her case it did improve slightly.

When it became unwieldy for her to go to Tampa for the shots she received a recommendation to go to Dr. Michael Tolentino in The Villages for future treatment. She was told that he was one of the pioneers who developed the process of giving the injections directly into the eye.

You might want to read about him at
Dr. Michael Tolentino, MD ‹ Center for Retina & Macular Disease

The office is at 11834 County Road 101 Suite 201
The Villages, FL 32162
Phone: (352) 751-9999

Best wishes

Carl, thanks for posting this information, I had no idea we had an eye specialist with this type of background in TV. Hoping someone who has used his office will post here.
