Fiorinol if I can catch it early enough. Excederin for Migraines works sometimes for a mild one. Nothing works for the big ones except a shot of Demerol and that's only sometimes.

I have been taking Imitrex injections for several years. They are the only thing that helps me. I give them myself.

Doctors all my life said I had migraines and in recent years I have been told what I have is a vascular migraine. Which is a constriction of the tiny blood vessels apparently. They put me on a very low dose of propranolol 10mg a day and it has headed off about 85% of my headaches. I still sometimes get a killer at times and have to head in for the shot but it has worked for me.

I have had migraines since menopause. BONUS!!! unexpected....lucky me!
I used Imitrex injections for years and now I can control them with Imitrex oral tabs. I have to take them as I have a hint of a headache. And they work great!! No narcotics, they just treat the pain, Imitrex reverses the vascular cause of the migraine. Treats the cause not the symptom. I know it does not work for all. But very fortunate that it works for me. |

Pray tell, and I hate to think where this will go, what does this "truly" have to do with a topic of a serious medical nature. People who have this issue are terribly affected by the symptoms. This is not a cavalier matter.

Been suffering since I was 13. They have subsided quite a bit now, thankfully. However, do use Maxalt as needed - sometimes 1/3 of a pill with a cup of coffee does the trick. Good luck to you.

It pretty much discounts a correlation between saturated fat and migraine. Are you thinking in terms of a vascular system compromised by diet-related clogged arteries making vascular migraines worse, once they are triggered? Last edited by Uptown Girl; 12-12-2014 at 10:32 AM. |

And today with lots of people on high protein (weight loss) diets, I figured it could be likely. I hadn't thought about clogged arteries, but now that you mentioned it, that could be a factor. If you read down far enough someone said a correlation has been found: I haven't read it yet but here's the link: http://www.livestrong.com/article/37...food-to-avoid/ http://migrainetriggers-stopped.blog...aines.html?m=1 One statement from the first link goes like this: "The saturated fat prevalent in beef and high-fat cheeses may cause or worsen inflammation involved with headache pain." |

I have suffered with chronic migraines for over 25 years. I have tried every migraine medication out there, I think... with no success. I have been on a preventive regimen for over 10 years and have had to take narcotic pain meds when I would have a migraine. Even on the preventative, I was experiencing at least 2 migraines per month.
Finding Young Living essential oils has literally changed my life in so many ways. For the first time in many years, I am not taking a preventative any longer, and I have not had a migraine in over 4 months! When I do experience the beginning of a migraine, I simply put a drop of Peppermint essential oil on the roof of my mouth, and my symptoms disappear! I have also used Deep Relief Roll-On on my forehead and temples with success. I love these products from Young Living! |
