I use Bigeloil, a horse liniment made by the same people who created Absorbine Jr. Same stuff, just much more concentrated.

I also had a pain in my left shoulder and thought it was from a strain. Had an Xray done and turned out to be arthritis. Old age snuck up on me. I bought and use Hempvana Pain Relief Gel. I get instant relief and can use my arm normally. It is not a cure. Just thought I would pass it along..

I've done that sort of thing to my arms and legs many times (I'm dealing with my right shoulder and arm right now, but it's showing improvement). I seems to happen when I try to lift something that 20 years ago would have felt heavy but no problem, now it's a problem. Since I try to exercise daily, I sometimes get overuse injuries which also seem to take forever to go away. It can take weeks to many months to recover. The acronym RICE (rest, ice, compression, elevation) early on can help speed recovery if you think to do it. A good physical therapist can guide you to doing the proper stretches and resistance training to improve recovery or tell you that it's beyond PT and go see an orthopedist.

Am on Prednisone 20 MG twice a day.

If you ever had an arm muscle strain, how long did it take you to get better?

thank you!
Who put you on prednisone?

I have had various types of pain and I like to completely stop using the affected limb to give it time to heal, i.e. arm sling, picking up my leg to move it etc.. I find that is extremely helpful, and I only take pain meds if I'm not able to sleep. Otherwise the pain signals are necessary to prevent me from tweaking it further. Patience is key, as well as getting good tests done to know what is hurt, if it persists too long. Good luck!

40 Mgs of Prednisone a day should kill most inflammation pain, it's a miracle drug!

I'd take it every day, just on general principles ... but I can't afford all the shopping.

I have always been told the opposite. Daily stretching and moderate use is necessary for a complete recovery. Especially at our age. It is probably best that you seek medical attention. Your are getting too many conflicting recommendations.

Have gone to my doctor; just checking with you all.

I've had strains, pulls, small tears, all my life. . i should stretch more often

Ibuprofen + ice for 20 minutes 2-4 times a day for three days. .
I use frozen lima bean bags, because I hate lima beans. .
heat 3-4 times a day for 20 minutes for the following 3-4 days. .

total recovery time 4-6 weeks for minor,
6-8 weeks for larger,
depending upon location and severity.

If this is your first then gauging by your pain level, unable to tell the severity
Based on my time in pre med think you are cooking the lima beans too long.

You think people on here would know better? As far as I know only two posters have been to med school and gone on to practice.

Prednisone IS a miracle drug. I suffered with gout for several years until I got my uric acid under control, and my doctor told me he had stopped prescribing the standard gout pain medications in favor of prednisone. In a day or two the severe pain is gone. I never travel without a pred card. It’s been a lifesaver for me.
